New set photos from Hawkeye show Hailee Steinfeld in Kate Bishop's comic-accurate purple superhero costume. Steinfeld was linked to the role of Marvel's new sharpshooter months ago, but it wasn't until production on Hawkeye began last week that her casting was confirmed. Various set photos have shown Steinfeld on set with Jeremy Renner, who returns as Clint Barton in a starring role, as filming in New York continues on the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 Disney+ show.
There have been several nods to the comics already through the various looks at Steinfeld's Kate Bishop. She's been spotted wearing a shirt straight out of the comics, but many have been hoping that a look at Kate Bishop's superhero costume could come soon. Back when the show was still newly announced, Marvel Studios revealed concept art for Hawkeye that confirmed Kate would dawn a purple superhero costume just as she has in the comics. Now, the first look at Steinfeld in the suit has arrived.
Another batch of Hawkeye set photos are circulating online, and they provide a great look at Steinfeld suited up in her MCU attire. The purple suit is a trademark of Kate Bishop and has been one of Hawkeye's primary colors in the comics. The MCU Kate Bishop costume is semi-faithful to the comics and mostly resembles the previously released concept art.
The first look at Kate Bishop's live-action superhero MCU costume is quite promising. It isn't the full purple suit like what was featured in the concept art or has been in comics before. But, this might also be an early prototype or one of many variations of Kate's suit. Clint noticeably isn't wearing a superhero suit of his own, so Kate could still be in the beginning phases of finding her superhero look. There's already evidence that Sam Wilson's costume will evolve throughout The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, so Kate's could as well during Hawkeye. This could also be a version of the suit designed for colder weather, as the series is set near the 2025 New Year and is filming in December.
One point of speculation that these photos do raise is why Kate is suiting up like this now. This isn't her everyday look, so the superhero costume and being fully armed with her bow and arrows (plus interchangeable heads) likely signal that she expects a fight. Kate and Clint could be on their way for an encounter with Echo (Alaqua Cox) or Swordsman (Tony Dalton), or possibly even Clown (Fra Fee) or Madame Masque. Considering how many set photos have already surfaced from Hawkeye, it might not be too long before more arrive showing Kate in action.
