Updated on June 11th, 2021 by Mark Birrell: Now You See Me draws from a long line of heist movies and other crime capers to form its memorably twisty-turny story and some of the best of them are available to stream online, sometimes for free. We've added an extra 5 movies and their streaming info for fans to check out while they wait for the next installment in the popular magician heist franchise. Whether they share key cast members or just center around daring and dazzling heists, these movies have all the style and star power of the Now You See Me series and then some.

15 The Brothers Bloom (2008) - Available on Prime Video, Vudu, Tubi, Pluto TV, and YouTube

Before wowing the world with Knives Out, writer and director Rian Johnson made his first foray into the lighter side of crime movies with this story about the titular conmen played by Adrien Brody and Now You See Me's Mark Ruffalo.

The pair attempt to con a wealthy heiress but Brody's brother falls for the mark, complicating the plot. The Brothers Bloom is a unique crime caper that has its own sense of quirky humor and magic to it.

14 After the Sunset (2004) - Available on Starz

Now You See Me's Woody Harrelson stars in this much more laid-back take on a heist movie with an equally stunning cast, including Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek as two master jewel thieves who've escaped Harrelson's FBI agent before.

Set in the Bahamas, After the Sunset has a uniquely easygoing vibe that may not have been a hit with either critics or audiences at the time of its release but has garnered it a stronger following over the years since.

13 Inside Man (2006) - Available on Peacock

Denzel Washington leads an all-star cast of heavy hitters that's sure to impress fans of Now You See Me's top-notch ensemble. As a cop negotiating a tense bank robbery with Clive Owen's mastermind, there's little actual magic but plenty of mind games that will stimulate fans of Now You See Me's many switcheroos and disappearing acts.

Director Spike Lee uses the backdrop of New York City in the way that only he can, adding so much character to what could have been just another by-the-numbers cops and robbers movie.

12 Fast Five (2011) - Available on Peacock

The ever-accelerating Fast & Furious franchise kicked up into a new gear with its fifth installment which leaned heavily into the heist aspect of the previous movies, bringing on new recurring cast member Dwayne Johnson for the first time, and the series has never looked back.

In the spirit of the 2003 remake of The Italian JobFast Five is all about the team of car-centric thieves using some theatrical planning and execution that Now You See Me fans will surely recognize. It's not all high-octane muscle from the crew, and they have their own set of tricks up their sleeves to surprise the audience.

11 Logan Lucky (2017) - Available on Hulu

For those who enjoy the structure and execution of an elaborate heist plan, Steven Soderbergh's Logan Lucky is a must-see. Lead by Channing Tatum and Adam Driver as two brothers planning on robbing a local speedway, the would-be criminals at the heart of the scheme are simply lovable.

With supporting roles played by the likes of Daniel Craig and Seth McFarlane, there's never a dull moment in the story even if the main characters aren't the slick criminal geniuses of Now You See Me's world.

10 Inception (2010) - Available on Prime Video

Inception is one of the greatest movies ever made, and it is one that Now You See Me fans will certainly enjoy. For starters, this movie also brings in a tremendous ensemble cast of actors who are all incredibly talented. They come together to tell a very unique story, which is different from most films, just as Now You See Me is.

The film has some great visuals and while there is no actual magic taking place, there is no doubt that the things the group does are certainly magic. There's a lot of surprises throughout the movie as well which keeps audiences guessing and questioning the reality right up until the climax.

9 Baby Driver (2017) - Available on Fubo TV

Much like Inception, Baby Driver takes a concept that is well known, in terms of being a heist and bringing a team of people together to do a job, but it does so in a modern and unique manner. In this case, that is mainly done through music, which plays a huge part in telling the story of the film. Baby uses music as his comfort due to the fact he suffers from tinnitus.

While music doesn't have much of a role in Now You See Me, it is the comedic tones and fresh ideas that make these two movies so similar. The fact both films bring a team of talents together to pull off a mission also is a very similar concept. There are some good twists and betrayals throughout as well to really add to the drama.

8 Knives Out (2019) - Available on Prime Video

One of the most exciting aspects of Now You See Me was the mystery behind it. While everyone knew who the main magicians were, the person pulling the strings wasn't revealed right until the end of the movie. It left people guessing about who was doing it and what their reasoning was with audiences being left to make their own assumptionsuntil the very end.

Another film that does that brilliantly is Knives Out. This is a murder mystery film all set in one home after a death takes place, with Daniel Craig coming in to be the detective to try and work out who was responsible. While this film does actually reveal the death early on, there are plenty of other twists that keep audiences on edge with a lot of mystery being involved.

7 The Illustionist (2006) - Available on Prime Video, Crackle, Vudu, Tubi, Pluto TV, and YouTube

Edward Norton is at his very best throughout The Illusionist, which is another gripping movie that has the world of magic at its central core. While this film isn't quite as secretive and fun as Now You See Me, there is still a lot of similar themes. Edward Norton plays an illusionist who isn't allowed to be with the woman that he loves.

Because of that, he turns to magic in a big to free her from the royal residence that she is in. The magic within this movie is a lot of fun to watch and there is no shortage of suspense. Audiences will be sat on the edge of their seat throughout the movie as it plays out with the illusionist becoming increasingly more desperate.

6 Zodiac (2007) - Available on Paramount+

Mark Ruffalo is a huge part of Now You See Me, and he is also one of the lead actors in 2007's Zodiac. It's a gripping movie that has a lot of surprises throughout, focusing on the real-life serial killer that was on the loose in California, using letters to the newspapers to make sure they were well known.

The movie brings that story to life in a gripping manner as both the police and the media try to catch the mystery man. The consistent surprises as they try to work out as many clues as possible have viewers guessing throughout, which is very similar to Now You See Me.

5 The Game (1997) - Available for purchase Prime Video

The Game brings all the elements of mystery and intrigue that make Now You See Me such a good film. With Michael Douglas playing the lead role of a wealthy man who has everything anyone could want. He ends up getting a membership card for a game and that leads to him joining and totally changing his life.

The film is constantly changing and having those twists throughout makes it incredibly exciting to watch from start to finish. It's impossible to guess what will happen next and the element of surprise is why these two movies are so similar.

4 Tower Heist (2011) - Available for purchase on Prime Video

Tower Heist has a very similar theme to Now You Seem Me in the sense that it sees a group come together in order to scam a very wealthy businessman. They look to take revenge and even though they're not highly skilled like the magicians are, they still work together to make it happen.

The group has fun chemistry together with a lot of jokes taking place and that vibe allows for some comedic moments. The films are similar in that sense, as the tone isn't too serious, all while still being gripped in a serious topic of a heist.

3 Focus (2015) - Available on IndieFlix

Will Smith and Margot Robbie bring brilliant performances to Focus, which is a thrilling movie that is jam-packed full of suspense from start to finish. The film sees two con artists come together, with Will's character Nicky trying to teach Jess the tricks of the trade.

The movie brings in romance as well which is a nice twist and something that Now You See Me doesn't have too much of. There's plenty of twists in this movie that makes it hard for people to work out what is going to happen next.

2 Ocean's Eleven (2001) - Available on HBO Max

This heist movie is certainly considered to be a classic and it is one that people who watch Now You See Me will find enjoyable. Once again, there is a brilliant ensemble cast within this one to tell the story. Each character has their own individual talents and skills, which is exactly how the Four Horsemen within Now You See Me operate.

Money is at the heart of things in the film as well, which does play a part in Now You See Me. It's a little more on the nose in Ocean's Eleven though, considering this is literally a heist. However, the concepts are very similar, and the way they're executed with some comedy, drama, and a little action all helps to make this an excellent film.

1 The Prestige (2006) - Available for purchase on Prime Video

Obviously, the main reason for that is the fact that this film is based on all-around magic. With The Prestige following two magicians on a collision course to outdo the other, no matter the cost, there are a lot of fun tricks and illusions throughout the movie, which is a big part of what makes Now You See Me so fun.

However, this Christopher Nolan masterpiece also features a lot of amazing twists and turns that people just don't see coming. The ending has a big reveal, just as Now You See Me does which lets the audience into the big secret.
