90 Day Fiancé: Yara’s Covid Struggle Doesn’t Earn Viewer Sympathy

Yara Zaya found out she tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday night's new 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? episode, but many fans don't have sympathy for the new mother, given her past social media behavior. Both Yara and her husband Jovi Dufren were called out by fans for partying during the height of the pandemic and not abiding by proper health guidelines. Therefore, not all 90 Day Fiancé fans felt bad for Yara when her positive diagnosis was revealed on TV.

While New Orleans resident Jovi has been traveling for his underwater mechanics career, Yara has been staying with his fan-favorite mother Gwen. After trying to return home with baby Mylah after a hurricane, Yara discovered that she had tested positive for COVID-19 and must stay with her mother-in-law for extra care. "People in NOLA are very relaxed, walking around without mask. I Don't do that. I am very careful," Yara stated. She told her husband via FaceTime that she must have gotten sick because she was going to the store while he was away. However, viewers saw the couple paint a different picture on social media while the pandemic was in full swing. Yara was previously criticized during the height of the pandemic for going out to clubs and writing, "COVID? Never heard of that," in her Instagram Story.

One viewer took to Reddit to discuss Yara's positive diagnosis. "It’s really hard for me to feel sympathy for Yara getting COVID when her and Jovi went literally everywhere maskless," the user titled the post. "From what we’ve seen on the show and in previews, went to the strip club and multiple bars without a mask knowing that they had a vulnerable newborn at home. Their baby shower was also a maskless affair during the height of COVID. Yara even posted a picture on her story of them partying at the height of the pandemic. So yeah, sucks that she has COVID, but mainly for baby Mylah, who had no choice but to be exposed," the viewer concluded. Many of Yara and Jovi's followers are currently annoyed to see Yara portray a different image on the show than she did on social media.

"I have N0 sympathy for her. She acts so spoiled and entitled. Should have worn a mask dummy!! Also, she wants nice things and her own place, but, doesn't want Jovi to work?? Not how that works sweetheart," one viewer wrote. Others shared that they agreed they had sympathy for baby Mylah, but that her parents had chosen to unnecessarily risk her health by going out without protection. Others were frustrated by Jovi's refusal to get vaccinated. "Just posted about it. On the top of that Jovi doesn't want to get vaccinated against Covid," another commenter wrote.  "Can anyone with a medical license that denies covid and vaccines lose their license please???? Canada I heard is doing that..so can the USA please ugh...!??!???" another viewer chimed in. Many commenters were frustrated by the carelessness of the new parents.

While many of the current Happily Ever After cast members have been criticized by fans, Yara has been considered the highlight of an otherwise lackluster season. Many 90 Day Fiancé fans have enjoyed watching the glamorous Ukrainian fashionista take on the new role of motherhood. However, many are also annoyed by Yara and Jovi's actions during the height of the pandemic. The couple has been called immature and reckless by some who believe they should have prioritized baby Mylah's health over their need to party. Nonetheless, Yara is still a popular 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? cast member.
