Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York has decided to end her lucrative media deal with MGM. She also has cut ties with executive producer Mark Burnett.
In August of 2019, The Real Housewives Of New York City all-star announced for the second time that she would be departing from the hit show. Frankel explained the reasoning behind her move, saying she wanted to focus more on her franchise and spend quality time with her daughter. In addition, the reality star wanted to focus on being a mom. At the time, the Skinnygirl tycoon also revealed she would be starting her own show. The show was set to focus on female entrepreneurs and helping them by giving them a leg up. Recently the former housewife announced she was engaged and looking forward to wedding planning.
Frankel was happy to be exploring her options and started a new show called The Big Shot With Bethenny and a popular podcast. But it looks like her plan for world domination may be put on hold for a bit after she broke the news on her podcast Just B with Bethenny Frankel that she cut ties with her partners. The mother of one shared with listeners that she “left a very big, high, seven-figure contract recently with my partners at MGM and Mark Burnett because I had a good relationship with them, but I didn't want to be locked up."
The businesswoman and former housewife made it clear to fans she didn’t have as much power as she had hoped, saying, "I didn't want to have no freedom in my podcast." The New Yorker wanted to be free of anyone’s strings, adding, "I didn't want to not be able to do something, to date other people, business-wise. And I was taking a shot. I don't know that I'll make that money back, but I didn't want to be shackled. So that's not about money - I've left money to make things happen in the future."
However, it does look like she is still working with Burnett and MGM on her HBO Max show. She also helped produce the show with her B Real productions. Frankel has been pumping out ideas of late as she still has Skinnygirl Jeans, Skinnygirl Supplements, Forever Young Wine, her B Strong Foundation, and as of yesterday, her swimwear and sunglass line on HSN.
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesday at 9 pm EST on Bravo
