The Hills: Heidi & Spencer Trash New Cast for Being Too Boring for TV

Stars of The Hills: New Beginnings Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt never held back about other cast members, and they're not about to start now. While tweeting about Wednesday night's episode, the spouses shared plenty of harsh critiques. Their targets were the current cast and overall quality of the MTV reality series.

Heidi, who was there from day 1 of the original series, and Spencer, who joined in season 2, already went through some cast shakeups. Perhaps the most notable was Kristin Cavallari replacing Lauren Conrad. The rebooted series also made changes after season 1. While some assumed Kaitlynn Carter was out after her split from Brody Jenner, she not only returned but also got promoted. Gone were Spencer's sister Stephanie Pratt and former The O.C. star Mischa Barton. After the tepidly received first season, Spencer promised some new blood back in 2019. However, he and Heidi clearly aren't pleased by this latest attempt to recapture the original's magic.

Heidi called them “The worst cast," and continued, “Hello we are on a reality show pretend to be interesting.” Her biggest target was Jason Wahler's wife Ashley Slack, who made judgmental comments about Heidi's behavior on a group trip. In another tweet obviously directed at Ashley, Heidi wrote, “Funny you think I care I about your opinion on who I should be or behave. Literally f--- off. You are only on the show because your comment about other people. #notastar.” She continued, clearly sarcastically, “Wow what an exciting episode.” Her husband Spencer also had some cutting words, deeming it the “worst episode of reality TV i have ever watched,” and went on to say, “that footage didn’t deserve cloud space.”  The Pratt Daddy Crystals founder also retweeted fans' requests for a spin-off focused on him and Heidi.

This isn't the first time the couple expressed their dissatisfaction with season 2. Heidi previously claimed she felt mom-shamed while filming. She also said of the current cast roster, “This group, I feel like, holds grudges to the end.” Spencer called for a complete overhaul if the series gets renewed. ”I would imagine if there was a season 3, it would be with an all-new cast because after this season, I don’t see how everyone would be able to be in the same room once this airs. We don’t even know what people are saying in their testimonials.”

The Pratts, as well as viewers, will have to keep watching to see more of those testimonials. The Hills: New Beginnings airs Wednesday nights on MTV.
