Warning! Spoilers for Heroes Reborn #6!
In the alternate Heroes Reborn reality where nothing’s ever as it seems, Thor’s favorite mode of transportation across the realms – the colorful rainbow bridge known as the Bifrost – has just been turned into Marvel’s coolest new weapon! It’s just too bad Thor isn’t wielding it himself though, because that would have been epic to say the least.
Revealed in Heroes Reborn #6, “The Last Utopian Meets the Last Son of the Gods” by Jason Aaron and Erica D’Urso, Marvel’s Wonder Woman, Power Princess, is doing her best to deal with the return of the one true God of Thunder, Thor. Hearing the deafening rumbles of thunder echo across the land, Power Princess rightly believes there’s something different about them and eventually deduces that they’re not just overly loud thunderclaps, but the literal cries of a god.
Immediately vowing to find out which one, Princess Zarda starts to dig around her armory for the perfect weapon to enter the ruined remains of Asgard and start her search. Pulling out a formidable axe that’s as cool looking as it is powerful, Power Princess muses over the place she’s about to travel to, and reveals the reason as to why this axe in particular is colored by the many vibrant hues of the rainbow: It’s quite literally the last piece of the cosmic bridge once known as the Bifrost.

Arriving in Asgard with her trusty rainbow axe in tow, Power Princess is immediately met by the still slightly confused Thor, and wastes no time getting into it with the God of Thunder. Showing fans how powerful – and cool – this Mjolnir-like weapon can be in her hands, Thor is taken back at the sight of it and is understandably upset at what he sees, even saying, “Beloved Bifrost. What in the name of Odin has happened to you?” suggesting to fans that not only has Thor never considered using the Bifrost as a literal weapon in any form, but that the respect and care usually needed to keep the bridge operating has been trampled on by a ruthless warrior princess he doesn’t even know, transforming it into a bastardization of what it once was.
Usually guarded and operated by Thor’s close friend and confidant in Asgard, Heimdall, the Bifrost Bridge is an Asgardian mode of transportation that connects all realms of the Marvel Universe together, and easily allows traversal to numerous mythical places that no ordinary person can go; the Earth-realm of Midgard included. And while the Bifrost has seen its fair share of ups and downs in comics as part of the larger lore that is Thor and his numerous allies, this new wrinkle of turning it into a war axe is one that fans – and clearly Thor – never saw coming.
So as Power Princess continues to beat on Thor in the wreckage of Asgard, it can’t be denied that her nifty rainbow ax is a fun little addition to this new Heroes Reborn reality. Thor is finally remembering the way things were before, and judging by his reaction in seeing his beloved Bifrost repurposed into a lethal weapon, he’ll no doubt want to restore the world to its proper form as soon as possible.
