This article contains spoilers for Green Lantern #4.
The mysterious enemy of the Green Lantern Corps is unleashing a perfectly ironic revenge upon them. There was a time when the Green Lantern Corps could rightly consider themselves numbered among the most powerful beings in the universe. They patrolled the heavens, granted almost as much power as they could possibly imagine by their formidable Power Rings, serving as the universe's police force.
In the latest adventures of DC's various Green Lanterns, those days are long gone. The Central Power Battery on Oa was destroyed in an act of terrorism, with the Guardians of the Universe - the traditional masters of the Green Lantern Corps - rendered in a weird form of temporal stasis. Almost all the Power Rings lost power, in many cases leading to their bearers dying in the cold vacuum of space. Only three Green Lanterns retain their powers, and they're scrambling to reorient themselves in this terrifying new status quo.
Green Lantern #4 from Geoffrey Thorne, Tom Raney, and Marco Santucci, reveals things are going from bad to worse, as their mysterious new enemy takes the next step in their plan - putting out bounties on every member of the Green Lantern Corps. There's a twisted irony to this, because the men, women, aliens, and sentient planets who once patrolled the spaceways seeking out villains are now being hunted. They are now the galaxy's most wanted, and they have been stripped of their tools of defense.

The Green Lantern Corps' enemies struck a devastating blow when they destroyed the Central Power Battery, but these bounties confirm they don't just want to overthrow the Corps - they want to erase it from existence, to have every person who has ever served as a member of the Green Lantern Corps killed so it can never reform. At first, their actions seemed as though they could be the prelude to a power grab, but now it feels much more like an act of revenge. Ironically, that means the surviving Green Lanterns are probably looking in the wrong direction because they're focused on Sinestro and the Yellow Lanterns.
Whoever is responsible for this, though, they clearly have both phenomenal technological abilities - their opening shot demonstrated that, with the Power Battery detonating - as well as almost limitless riches. It's possible that, rather than originate in a single entity, this is an alliance between worlds whose leaders have struggled to achieve their goals because of the Green Lanterns; that would explain why they have enough money to place bounties on the heads of every single members of the Corps. If that is the case, then these bounties could be a hint the galaxy itself is turning against the Green Lantern Corps.
