Warning: contains a preview for Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #6!
In a preview for IDW's Star Wars: High Republic Adventures #6, the greatest hero of the Jedi Order's past is revealed. While being a hero is more often than not a key part of a Jedi's job description, it seems as though Jedi Master Tal Bota was on another level, effectively being seen as a superhero in the eyes of the High Republic's Padawans. Now, one in particular will need Bota's courage and bravery for their latest mission.
Previous issues of Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures have seen Jedi Padawans joining their masters Yoda and Torban Buck as they work together to help a galaxy in crisis. Not only have the marauding Nihil been a significant threat, but the rise of the Dark Side plant monsters known as the Drengir has prompted the first ever alliance between the Jedi Order and Hutt Clans to keep the galaxy safe. However, that doesn't mean that the alliance is without its issues and tensions.
The new preview for Daniel José Older, Harvey Tolibao, and Pow Rodrix's High Republic Adventures #6 featured on StarWars.com sees Jedi Padawan Farzala Tarabal remembering the holos and stories told of Jedi Master Tal Bota. Apparently, Bota was so strong and brave that he often went on solo missions while facing down hordes of Sith acolytes in ages past. While this is a great hero for younglings at the Jedi Temple to cling to and idolize, Farzala is now a Padawan out in the galaxy who's facing real issues that require him to live up to Bota's example. Enjoy the preview pages below:

Thanks to the preview images, it certainly looks like Farzala is going to have to be as brave as Jedi Master Tal Bota, seeing as how his current master is asleep on the job for their diplomatic mission to the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta. Now, it's going to be up to Farzala to initiate the peace talks with the Hutts, which is certainly an intimidating task for any Jedi, let alone a young Padawan.
It's fascinating to see that even the typically heroic Jedi have heroes of their own among the Order. While it seems as though Tal Bota is a hero of the past even during the days of the High Republic, his influence certainly seems to have remained to inspire the Jedi, though there are hints in Farzala's language that his legend may be overblown, perhaps signifying the rot of Jedi arrogance that would eventually warp the Order in years to come. Hopefully, this won't be the last fans see of Jedi Master Tal Bota, as actually witnessing the feats of the Jedi who inspires other Jedi would be something to see - just as it will be fascinating to learn whether stories of Bota survived the rise of the Empire. Star Wars has given pop culture a huge number of Jedi heroes, but High Republic Adventures just revealed the figure even they looked up to.
