Everspace 2 Free Steam Demo Drops Alongside New Star System Teaser

Exploration sci-fi game Everspace 2 has announced a new demo that will release on August 25 and gave the first look at the Khaït Nebula, which will drop with the next update. Everspace 2 is currently in early access from developer Rockfish Games, with multiple small updates during this early access period leading to the game's ultimate release in 2022.

Everspace and its sequel put the player into the pilot's seat of a spaceship, hunting for resources and treasure to upgrade their ship. With each upgrade, the player's ship will be able to travel further and faster, thus exploring even more of the cosmos. The game is also self-funded, taking input on gameplay and content additions from the community that has backed it on Kickstarter. The game's developers pride themselves on transparency with fans, holding weekly community streams where they show the latest build of the game and answer questions.

In the latest attempt to provide transparency to the community, Rockfish Games has announced they will be releasing a new Everspace 2 demo that is based on the most recent early access version. The demo is available to download on Steam so interested players can experience the current build of the game before deciding whether they want to purchase the early access. The demo will offer players the first five missions in the main campaign, along with two side missions, and random encounters within the first sector of the Ceto system. In addition, players' save files from the demo will carry over to the early access version of the game, so players who decide to purchase early access will have their progress carry over.

In addition to the demo, early access players will get their first look at the game's fourth star system, the Khaït Nebula. This will also include the return of Shadow Creatures and other new alien life. The new system will also add new space stations and locations for players to explore. Everspace 2's campaign will also gain new chapters, new player perks will be added, and the maximum player level cap will be raised.

It's quite exciting to see that Rockfish is adding content not only to the existing early access game but also creating an experience so new players can join the ranks of the galaxy's explorers. The new content, in particular, will be welcome by experienced players, in particular the return of the popular Shadow Creatures. As Everspace 2 continues to gear up for its full release, more content will keep the players engaged.
