Hailee Steinfeld has shared new behind-the-scenes footage of her archery training sessions for her role as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye. The upcoming Disney+ series starring Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner is set to air on November 24, and marks the MCU debut of the 24-year-old actress and singer.
The new series will see Renner reprise his role as The Avengers' bow and arrow wielding marksman, Clint Barton/Hawkeye, while Steinfeld joins on as Marvel comic book character Kate Bishop, a young, talented sharpshooter and long-time Hawkeye fan who is heavily rumoured to be his eventual successor. While Hawkeye was officially announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Steinfeld's casting as Bishop wasn't confirmed until on-set images of the two stars circulated online in December 2020. Since then, expectant fans have been treated to several unofficial images giving clues about Bishop's character, including the young hero's weapons and costume.
Now, Kate Bishop herself has shared some behind-the-scenes Hawkeye footage, with Hailee Steinfeld posting an Instagram story featuring an image and short video from her archery training sessions for the show. The first image shows a target shot with several arrows (presumably by Steinfeld herself) alongside the caption, "It's been a minute...". The image is followed by a close-up video of an arrow accidentally shot straight through the seam of the target bag, while Steinfeld playfully boasts about her shooting "skill".

Since Marvel has kept details about Hawkeye mostly under wraps (only releasing one official image of the series back in July to confirm the show's air date), Steinfeld's post adds to the pile of unofficial content that has kept fans eager while they wait for more details about the Disney+ series. Besides Steinfeld, other known Hawkeye cast members include Florence Pugh as Black Widow's Yelena Belova, Vera Farmiga as Kate's mother, as well as Zahn McClarnon, Brian d'Arcy James Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox and Fra Fee.
While fans of The Avengers' sharpshooter will no doubt be happy to see Clint Barton finally get his own solo project, it seems that Hawkeye will ultimately function as an introduction for a newer generation of Marvel heroes. With Bishop's narrative arc expected to culminate in her taking up the mantle from Hawkeye, a confirmed return from Belova and known appearances from new Marvel comic book characters, it is possible that the show won't focus on Barton for long. However, given the appetite for behind-the-scenes Hawkeye footage and details about Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, there is no doubt that there is plenty of room in fans' hearts for new heroes.
