How to Beat Geirröðr in Tribes of Midgard (Boss Fight)

Geirröðr is the ice Jötunn of Tribes of Midgard who needs to be beaten before he reaches the Seed of Yggdrasil. Once he spawns into Midgard, Geirröðr will immediately begin venturing towards the village. Of all four giants in Tribes of Midgard, Geirröðr is the slowest in terms of both attack speed and overall mobility. Each of his attacks involves a visual wind-up before the crushing blow, allowing for evasive action to be taken before it's too late. Additionally, all of Geirröðr's attacks deal area-of-effect type damage.

Geirröðr deals damage through ground-pounds and projectiles in Tribes of Midgard. His ground-pound attacks come in one of two forms, the first being a single fist and the second being both fists. If Geirröðr plans to attack with one fist he will take a couple of seconds to lift his fist up and slam it into the ground. From the center of its impact, icicles will emerge out of the ground in three circles. The first circle surrounds his fist immediately, the second circle surrounds the first with roughly a Viking's width in between them, and the third surrounds the second with a similar distance separating them as well. Geirröðr's two fist slam creates a similar effect, with the only difference being that the first circle begins immediately around his feet. Lastly, he will throw a snow boulder at players who are out of the range of his fists.

The key components to beating Geirröðr are fire element weapons and patience. Like Hálogi, the fire Jötunn in Tribes of Midgard, once Geirröðr spawns an arrow will spawn over the mini-map, acting like a compass that points to the direction of the giant. Each giant spawns at random, so it is best to first venture out and find which of the four has spawned into Midgard. Once it has been established that Geirröðr is making his way to the village, focus on upgrading the blacksmith and village defenses. This can be done through the use of Souls, a currency found and collected by defeating common enemies and mining resources.

Once the blacksmith is upgraded, craft fire element weapons. Use hit and run tactics against Geirröðr, because even though he moves slowly he deals heavy damage. Geirröðr's health, like all giants in Tribes of Midgard, is based on the number of co-op players in the lobby. The more players, the more health he has. It's best to split responsibilities and rotate who is doing what in order to take down Geirröðr, meaning one group should focus on attacking and the other building up defenses. Geirröðr's health does not recover, so whatever damage is chipped away before he reaches the village will still be there if he makes it to the gates before he can be taken down.
