Love Island's Roxy Ahmad admits she felt like she didn't stand a chance at finding love from the moment she walked into the villa. The 24-year-old islander is a digital marketing account manager from Scottsdale, Arizona. According to her LinkedIn profile, Roxy graduated from Arizona State University in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations. Since then, she has worked as a content marketing specialist, helping companies grow their business through the virtual world.
Roxy first introduced herself to viewers at home as the "ugly duckling" who had to develop a personality in which she believed "a lot of the girls will be threatened by." Throughout the same introductory video, the 24-year-old islander made it clear that she wanted to have a chat with Cinco first. Unfortunately for Roxy, she wasn't the only woman who had her eyes on the 25-year-old delivery driver. At the time of Roxy's arrival, Cash and Trina were both already talking to the popular man, and one of the other women making her Love Island debut alongside Roxy also wanted to shoot her shot with him.
In a new interview with The Shannon Show, Roxy discussed why the show set her up for failure. "I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know I was going in with two other girls, and of course, they are two beautiful stunning girls," Roxy said. "As soon as I walked into the villa, I kind of knew that I wasn't going to have a romantic connection with any of the guys. I knew straight away I would only be friends with these guys." Roxy continued to explain that while she typically prefers becoming friends with men before developing a relationship, the villa works much faster than the outside world, and she wasn't given the time she needed to form something natural and real. "I was only in there a few days and it just wasn't enough time to get to know someone on a romantic level," she added.
Though time wasn't on her side, Roxy still attempted to form a connection with one of the only single boys during her short stay in the villa. "I know I had a relationship with Isaiah on the show, which was really shown a lot, but it felt so forced. If I had stayed there longer, something could have come from that romantically, but with me just being there a dew days, it was really forced and I feel like he felt the same way too," Roxy said, adding she couldn't go for what she wanted without stepping on other's toes. "Everyone kind of had their person already, like everyone was very coupled up, and it's so awkward when the girls are there."
Roxy may not have found the Love Island connection she was hoping for while she stayed in the villa, but she definitely still made several lifelong friendships. And now that she's back in the real world, nothing is holding her back from reaching back out to Isaiah to explore if love could possibly be found without the cameras. Though she felt the romantic connection was forced due to timing, they did develop a genuine friendship, and that's how Roxy prefers to start her relationships anyway.
