Warning: Contains a preview for Suicide Squad: King Shark #2!
A new opponent is challenging King Shark for supremacy of the seas in the digital-first DC comic series Suicide Squad: King Shark #2. King Shark will face off against Orca, as seen in a preview, however, this is only the first battle of many to come for whoever wins the fight.
King Shark made his first comic appearance in 1994 and recently made his big-screen debut in The Suicide Squad. He has also appeared within the Arrowverse in The Flash and on the animated series Harley Quinn. Now, King Shark is starring in a solo series centered around him needing to be the best among a large group of fighters. Before he can reach the tournament he needs to win, however, he must first dominate an opponent who wants to take his place in it - Orca.
On Twitter, DC Comics released a preview of Suicide Squad: King Shark #2, from the creative team of Tim Seeley, Scott Kolins, John Kalisz, and Wes Abbott. The new preview focuses predominantly on Orca, a supervillain whose alter ego is Grace Balin. It shows a regression that she undergoes, leading up to her fight with King Shark - though the outcome is yet to be revealed:

Orca and King Shark are competing to be the "Exemplar of the Sea," and only one can hold the position. Thus far, Orca seems to have the upper hand in this fight. This is something that she anticipated after hearing that King Shark is "timid" and "weak." However, if he can manage to win this fight, this could play to his advantage. Being underestimated can often tip scales in one's favor.

Ironically, in her introduction here, King Shark's foe Orca seems to not want to be the "beast" that she turns into while fighting him. She was trying to avoid losing her humanity, though she definitely seems to have lost her way. She certainly seems like she has become a force to reckon with in the sea, going so far as to dub herself the "Queen of the Sea." She has more bloodlust than King Shark thus far, but he hasn't focused on the fight and taken a strike at her yet, so the tables could quickly turn.
Regardless of his demeanor, King Shark is STILL a powerful shark - who is truly an ocean-dweller. He is also the son of a god. He's a very durable being and he won't be going down easily in this fight. DC's King Shark needs to turn the tables quickly if he hopes to not just survive, but thrive in the next challenge he could face when Suicide Squad: King Shark #2 hits store shelves on October 19.
