Platinum is a valuable and durable metal that New World players will use for crafting high-level jewelry and powerful Engineering and Arcana weaponry. Any New World player who wishes to build platinum equipment at a workbench must be a minimum level of 100 for Jewelcrafting and level 135 for Weaponsmithing, Engineering, and Arcana crafting.
To smelt the ingots needed for crafting equipment, players first have to reach a mining level 110 to acquire the platinum ore, a significantly higher requirement than mining gold or silver in New World. Based on one's Miner's Luck, there is also a chance that platinum ore veins can yield Tier III and IV gemstones from mining. Like any other ore vein in New World, finding the best places to farm platinum is simple as long as one knows where to look.
Platinum ore veins are distributed across Aeternum's regions, some containing more platinum than others. The best places to find and farm platinum in New World are in Reekwater, Edengrove, and Shattered Mountain. Players seeking to farm platinum have likely reached the point where they are well-versed in the threats and dangers of each region. Mining the platinum is easy, but safely getting to the ore veins requires preparation and planning.
Several clusters of platinum veins can be found along the mountainous western border of Reekwater, primarily around Skyview Repose and south of Mosswater Bourg. New World players going on mining expeditions in these areas should be wary that high-level enemies can spawn nearby, ranging from 40-60.
Edengrove is an excellent place to farm loads of platinum. Numerous mining nodes sit atop the rocky ridges west to the center of the region. There's also an optimal mining trail between Fanglethorn Pass and Creeping Reach that should offer plenty of spots to obtain platinum. The level of monsters and beasts here will vary, with the max reaching up to the mid-50s.
New World players should equip their best weapons and gear before entering the perilous realm of the Shattered Mountain. Deadly enemies at level 60 and higher roam this region, and will undoubtedly be a considerable threat to those trying to mine platinum. Fortunately, players able to survive in this zone can farm an abundance of platinum ore located to the west of the region.
Keep in mind, this information was collected during New World's closed beta phase, meaning that the best places to farm platinum may change when the game fully releases.
