A player of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has shared video footage of a glitch that turned their horse into a terrifying undead nightmare. Breath of the Wild might be one of the Nintendo Switch's biggest games, but it's no stranger to bizarre game glitches and bugs. The newly-found horse glitch may be one of the strangest seen in the game, but it's also a hilarious one.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a vast open world filled with lots for players to do and discover. As such, fans of BOTW are still discovering secrets the game is holding, despite it releasing back in 2017. Along with Easter eggs, secret quests, and collectibles to discover, Breath of the Wild is also home to unintentional glitches for fans to unpick, which are often strange, unexpected, and sometimes funny. Earlier this year, one player found a BOTW glitch that transformed the dragon Farosh into a twisted creature, while others have seen animations clipped or experienced issues with visuals.
Redditor Polkira's Breath of the Wild eerie glitch discovery shows the player's horse rising from underneath the ground near a cliffside. The player reports noting that their horse had disappeared, and wondered whether it had fallen from the cliff when it suddenly sprang up from beneath the earth. Despite looking very much like an undead character rising from a grave, the horse was completely functional following the odd bug, with the player able to mount and ride it as normal.
The Breath of the Wild glitch video is both hilarious and strange, and seems to demonstrate a bug related to the game's physics mechanics. Players responding to the Reddit clip noted that it seems likely the horse did fall from the cliffside, though an explanation for its resurrection is not known. Thankfully, the strange-yet-funny glitch did not impact the gameplay, with the horse seemingly unaffected by whatever the root cause of the bug was.
While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does contain some animation bugs and glitches, the overall experience is polished and smooth. It's believed that Nintendo will carry the same level of quality to the game's sequel, Breath of the Wild 2, which is expected to release next year. Nintendo has stated it's aiming to launch Breath of the Wild 2 in 2022, though this is explicitly an aim and not a definitive release window. An official release date has not yet been announced.
