A special edition Monopoly board game featuring Marvel's Eternals shows interesting details about the movie, including some of the locations where the plot's key events likely take place. Based on the comic books of the same title, Eternals will introduce a new set of superheroes, the eponymous ancient aliens who have been secretly guarding Earth for over 7,000 years. An impending threat of cosmic proportions will force them out of their hiding to protect the planet and its people.
Eternals boasts an all-star cast comprised of Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kit Harington, and more. As part of the MCU's Phase 4 slate, the movie is set to hit theaters on Nov. 5. It is expected to drive the franchise in a new direction after the highly successful Infinity Saga era. As part of Marvel Studios' marketing campaign, official Eternals merchandise has been released ahead of the movie's premiere to generate buzz and spawn a new lucrative film saga.
Among these new sets of Eternals merch is a Monopoly game based on the upcoming film. Released by Entertainment Earth, the special edition game features slightly different gameplay and has a newly designed board containing the movie's logo, images, and characters. In place of the street names in the classic board game, the Eternals edition is fitted with a new set of properties that reveal key locations to be featured in the film. Among these are Mesopotamia, Babylon, India's Pataliputra, landmarks from the Aztec civilizations, Australia, South America, and London. The Eternals Monopoly game can be pre-ordered for $31.99. Just like in the iconic Hasbro game, the properties in the Eternals Monopoly are color-coded and listed according to their value. This could be reflective of the film's order of events or the particular place's importance in the story. The Mesopotamian Fishing Village and Babylonian Hanging Gardens are featured first on the board, which could mean they will appear in the first part of the movie. Meanwhile, the two most expensive properties are the World Forge and Olympia, which are otherwordly locations that may be crucial to the movie's plot. In the comics, Olympia is known as the Eternals' home and has been hidden in different locations throughout centuries.
Because Marvel is known for keeping plot details safe from spoilers, eager fans often look to official merchandise for possible clues. Eternals has already released the staple Funko Pop! figures and LEGO sets. The new Monopoly game is interesting because it's the first item to reveal the movie's actual locations as teased in the trailer. The many places featured in the board game indicate that the superhero film will take a thrilling trip around the globe and even outside the planet. With its A-list cast, impressive cinematography, and multiple locations, Eternals is sure to be one exciting cinematic experience.
