Evil Season 3 Images Reveal Start Of Production On Paramount+ Series

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Evil season 2

Behind-the-scenes images of Evil season 3 reveal that production has begun. Premiering on CBS in September 2019 before moving to the Paramount+ streaming series in its second installment, the supernatural drama follows the forensic psychologist Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) as she works with Catholic assessor David Acosta (Mike Colter) and contractor Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) to investigate cases that could have a supernatural element. Particularly in Evil season 2, the show has taken this relatively straightforward premise and continued to expand its universe with long-running story arcs and more confounding mysteries.

Wrapping its run in October, Evil season 2 left viewers with plenty of unanswered questions. However, one particular storyline did see a major shift. In the closing moments of the finale, a distraught Kristen seeks out the support of David. No longer just an assessor, having been ordained as a priest, Kristen confesses to David that she killed Orson LeRoux (Darren Pettie) after LeRoux repeatedly threatened to harm her children. She adds that she’s thinking of killing Leland Townsend (Michael Emerson) for doing the same. Propelled by the intensity of the moment, or so it appears, Kristen and David share a kiss, paying off a moment that has been building since the show first began.

Viewers will have to wait a little longer to see the fallout from the shocking conclusion of Evil season 2. However, they are now a step closer, as the show's co-creator Robert King tweeted out photos to indicate that production has begun on Evil season 3 of the series. The photos, which have been included below, show the cast and crew getting ready to film an episode. Check them out below:

The decision to move Evil from CBS to Paramount+ has paid off, both creatively and in terms of boosting the revamped streaming service. The show was quickly renewed after the move and, from a narrative perspective, co-creators Robert and Michelle King have noted that the shift to streaming has given the freedom to take more creative risks and include more mature content. In particular, Evil season 2 featured a largely silent episode that drew praise across the board, generally being regarded as one of the drama’s best standalone episodes so far.

Looking ahead, Evil season 3 has a number of dangling threads to answer. As it relates to the kiss between David and Kristen, some fans have theorized that it might have been at least partially a manipulation on Kristen’s part to nudge David in the direction of taking care of Leland while keeping her own hands clean. Separately, there’s the question of what’s been going on with Sheryl (Christine Lahti) and how that connects to the broader story. All of these questions add up, potentially, to a very interesting Evil season 3.
