Jeremy Renner Shares Cute Throwback Photo Of Daughter On Hawkeye Set

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner shared a cute throwback photo of his daughter on the set of Marvel Studios’ latest Disney+ series. The Marvel Cinematic Universe established Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Renner) to be a family man in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015 when his fellow Avengers were introduced to Clint's loving home life. However, as revealed at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, Thanos’ snap turned his entire family to dust. In his grief, Clint became a murderous vigilante known as Ronin.

Hawkeye picks up two years after Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone and Professor Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) blipped all the victims of Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Endgame. Clint takes his kids to New York City during the holiday season for a holiday and to see the Captain America-themed musical, Rogers. While there, Hailee Steinfeld’s Hawkeye super fan, Kate Bishop, haphazardly dons Ronin’s suit and provokes the Tracksuit Mafia, who the vigilante crossed in the past. Clint intervenes, hoping to swiftly defuse the situation and get home in time to spend Christmas with his family. The series also stars Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d'Arcy James, Alaqua Cox, and (reportedly) Florence Pugh.

Renner recently took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Hawkeye, which was filmed last year. The image shows Renner’s eight-year-old daughter, Ava, watching him shoot scenes with Steinfeld on the monitor in front of her. Check it out below:

Renner has often spoken to the media about how important his daughter is to him. He’s talked about surprising his daughter at her elementary school dressed as Hawkeye and, more recently, opened up about a time when he thought Marvel might recast Hawkeye after Renner said he would leave the role to spend more time with her. After his MCU debut, Renner’s demanding schedule made it difficult to spend quality time with his daughter without constantly flying back and forth. Therefore, the actor committed to putting his daughter before work, even if it meant being fired. When insiders told him Marvel might actually fire him, he told them they could go ahead and recast him. Obviously, the powers that be conceded to his scheduling needs.

Renner stars in two shows this year, Hawkeye and Mayor of Kingstown, which he was able to film back-to-back by bringing his daughter with him to the filming locations. Clearly, Renner being a father himself helps him relate to his character, who’s just trying to do right by his family — a central theme of the series. Hawkeye episode 3,” Echoes,” began by outlining Echo’s (Cox) origin story, including her relationship with her father and upbringing with the Tracksuit Mafia. Hawkeye episode 1 began with the death of Kate’s father during the Battle of New York. Now, Clint has become a reluctant father figure/mentor for Kate amid her contentious relationship with Eleanor (Farmiga) and Jack (Dalton). On top of that, an appearance by Black Widow’s Yelena (Pugh) is on the horizon, on the hunt for the man she thinks is responsible for her surrogate sister’s death. All of this is sure to come to a head in Hawkeye's final episodes.
