Better Call Saul Season 6: What Kim's Howard Plan Means For Jimmy

In the season 5 finale of Better Call Saul, Kim proposes a plan to take revenge on Howard - but what does her scheme mean for Jimmy in season 6? Better Call Saul season 5 drew to an explosive close with the episode "Something Unforgivable", which saw Gus attempt to murder Lalo, Nacho meeting Don Eladio, and Jimmy and Kim hatch the beginnings of a plan to take on their former boss, Howard Hamlin.

After enduring everything from bowling balls through his windshield to a pair of prostitutes being sent to him during a lunch meeting, Howard confronted Kim about all the ridiculous behavior he suffered at the hands of Jimmy, but instead of empathizing with him, she laughed in his face. She later recounted the interaction to Jimmy, who began to propose all sorts of ways that they could get back at him. However, while Jimmy seemed to be joking, the more they talked about it, the more serious Kim became - until she proposed a plan to discredit Howard so that he would lose control over the Sandpiper case, and the retirement home would be forced to settle, resulting in a multi-million dollar payout for both Kim and Jimmy.

While it may sound like a good idea to her, Kim could unwittingly be pushing Jimmy over the moral edge and eventually cause him to become the Saul fans know from Breaking Bad. Fans went into the Better Call Saul season 5 finale terrified for Kim's fate. Indeed, since the show's very inception, viewers have been wondering how Saul, the man fans know Jimmy becomes, will impact Kim so she doesn't appear in Breaking Bad. "Something Unforgivable" shockingly subverts this notion, as the title applies to Kim herself (alongside the idea of what she wants to setup Howard up as having done). With Kim effectively breaking bad, she could now end up corrupting Jimmy.

After the traumatic events of "Bagman" and his run-ins with Lalo, Jimmy is left shellshocked, with a serious case of PTSD, and a new kind of worry and nervousness that viewers have never seen in him before. He botches an easy case in court, and gets so anxious about his and Kim's safety that he suggests they take an impromptu holiday - for the past few episodes, he's done everything he can to lay low and avoid the flashy life of crime he's known for. While the Kim in previous seasons would have been very on board with this logical and safe plan, she is the one who is itching to get back out to work, and after the talk with Howard, it's her who suggests tanking his career. Since Jimmy will eventually fall into his full "Saul" persona even after his trauma, it seems as if Kim will be the one to push him there with her new plan and attitude.

Given that Kim has shown a lack of understanding about just how dire things are (her visiting Lalo, for instance, it's not impossible that Jimmy would be pushed to become Saul in order to save Kim from a mess she creates in an attempt to get back at Howard. It's also possible that the opposite is true: Jimmy may want to stop Kim from even doing something illegal in the first place, so he takes the fall for her plan instead, and thus becomes the Saul seen in Breaking Bad. Or it might be that whatever happens to Kim as a result of this, Jimmy goes full Saul to get over it. Whichever way it goes, Kim's scheme will have some serious consequences - and not just for Howard.
