To many fans' surprise, the two Big Brother 23 finalists Xavier Prather and Derek Frazier are actually quite similar to the final two players on Big Brother 22: All-Stars last year, Cody Calafiore and Enzo Palumbo. Both Cody and Enzo were brought back for All-Stars in 2020 after originally competing and making it far during each of their respective seasons. The two became instant friends and worked quite closely together up until the final moments inside the house.
On Wednesday night, Xavier won Big Brother 23 unanimously, taking home the largest cash prize in the history of the show. Prior to his unanimous jury vote win, Xavier won the third part of the final Head of Household competition. He beat out Azah Awasum by just one point in the final HOH. In doing so, he chose to bring Derek F. to the final two with him due to a final two agreement they had made early on in the game. He then beat Derek F. by a 9-0 jury vote.
Last summer, Cody and Enzo agreed to take each other all the way to the end. On finale night, Cody beat Nicole Franzel in the final Head of Household competition. In many ways, the All-Stars endgame was virtually the same on BB23. Cody also beat Nicole for the final reign of power by just one point. Then, Cody followed through with his promise to Enzo by evicting Nicole. Cody, like Xavier, was one of few Big Brother winners who won unanimously. Despite only coming in second, both Enzo and Derek F. were comfortable with their runner-up prizes. In fact, they were both aware that they'd most likely not win the grand prize.
Xavier and Derek F.'s games also align with that of Cody and Enzo. Throughout the duration of the game, Xavier played an extremely strong game both physically and socially, as did Cody during the All-Stars season. Derek F., on the other hand, did not win a single competition but had a relatively strong social game. Last summer, Enzo did win a few competitions, but his biggest strength was his social game. Enzo and Cody were a part of the dominating Committee alliance, whereas Xavier and Derek F. were a part of the Big Brother history-making Cookout alliance this summer.
Even though the finale played out similarly for both of these duos, the biggest difference between Cody & Enzo and Xavier & Derek F. is the cash prizes they were each awarded. Cody earned the show's usual $500,000 grand prize, while Enzo took home $50,000 for coming in second place. This year, Big Brother 23 upped the cash prizes for the winners. Derek F. won $75,000 as runner-up, while Xavier took home the grand prize of $750,000.
