Pokémon GO recently added Galarian Yamask and Runerigus for players to catch and evolve. Runerigus is a Ground- and Ghost-type Pokémon with a few different moves that can be combined to optimize its damage and defense. Currently, there is only one way to obtain a Runerigus in Pokémon GO, and players will first need to have a Galarian Yamask.
With the addition of Galarian Yamask, Runerigus is now available as a new evolution form in Pokémon GO. As a Ghost- and Ground-type, Runerigus is weak against Grass, Ice, Dark, Water, and Ghost moves. This Pokémon can use Ghost, Ground, Rock, and Normal moves, but the best offensive combination is Astonish and Shadow Ball. These two moves are also the best defensive moveset, making the combination Runerigus' most powerful build.
Pokémon GO continuously adds new Pokémon, such as Douse Drive Genesect and Runerigus, who can be found through research tasks, raids, or exploring areas to find them in the wild. The method of catching them depends on the individual. Pokémon. For example, Runerigus can only be captured through completing research and meeting certain prerequisites to evolve it from Galarian Yamask. This Pokémon may become available through other means in the future.

In order for players to add a Runerigus to their party, they need to evolve a Galarian Yamask. Finding a Galarian Yamask in Pokémon GO involves completing the Research task "A Spooky Message Unmasked." These Pokémon aren't found in raids or in the wild yet, so this is the only way to get one.
After completing the research tasks, players will need to meet Galarian Yamask's evolution requirements. Yamask will need to be equipped as the trainer's buddy, then players will need to fight in raids and obtain 50 candies.
A Spooky Message Research Tasks
- Step 1: Catch 30 Ghost-type (Duskull encounter), transfer four Pokémon (340 Stardust), catch 34 Pokémon (340 XP)
- Step 2: Catch 10 Dark-type (costumed Sableye encounter), get eight nice throws (x8 Pokéballs), catch 108 Pokémon (1080 XP)
- Step 3: Catch 40 Ghost-type (Litwick encounter), get nine great throws (490 Stardust), catch 49 Pokémon (490 XP)
- Step 4: Claim reward (3400 XP), claim reward (1080 XP), claim reward (4900 XP)
After completing these steps, players will encounter Galarian Yamask and receive a total of 19 candies from rewards and catch bonuses. Players will need a total of 50 candies to evolve it, and these can be obtained by walking with Yamask as the trainer's buddy or using rare candies.
Similar to evolving Galarian Farfetch'd in Pokémon GO, there is an additional requirement for evolving Galarian Yamask. Players will need to fight in 10 raids while the Pokémon is set as the buddy. This can take some time for players who don't have remote raid passes, but playing during special raid-hour events can help speed up the process. Once the requirements are met, players can evolve Galaraian Yamask into Runerigus.
Pokémon GO is available on Android and iOS.
