A player of the recently-released Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has had their Turtwig stolen by a member of Team Galactic thanks to a game glitch. While many are enjoying Pokémon BDSP, some players have uncovered a number of bugs and glitches within the two games, ranging from minor to game-breaking, but a stolen Turtwig might be the most unexpected yet.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl promise a new way to experience the 2006 Nintendo DS classics, reworking some of the originals' underdeveloped features and adding new content. While the games do feature overhauled graphics and enhanced gameplay, the titles are home to a number of player-reported glitches. Some of these have been visual issues with limited effect on gameplay, such as characters being able to walk across bridges despite being on the ground below. However, some bugs have been more impactful, causing some to have to quit their games after becoming trapped. Not all glitches in the games are negative though, with one notable exploit giving players easier access to the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl player hiphoppityriproppity's encounter with a member of Team Galactic has left Reddit laughing, with the character model storming away with the user's Turtwig. The Grunt's route off-screen is partially blocked by the out-of-ball Turtwig, meaning that when the Grunt leaves the area, they drag the Pokémon with them. Enemies in the Pokémon series, especially Team Rocket, are often accused of Pokémon theft, but the idea hasn't quite been implemented in the same hilarious way as the Pokémon BDSP glitch.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the Pokémon theft is a relatively common glitch in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Multiple commenters on the post have reported seeing the same phenomenon in their own Sinnoh adventure, happening not just with Turtwig, but other pocket monsters including Ponyta. Thankfully, the glitch appears to merely be a visual one, and doesn't actually result in the player losing their out-of-ball companion.
The bug may not be a game-breaking one, and it may bring a smile to players' faces, but it's yet another reported glitch found in the new games. The list of Pokémon BDSP issues continues to grow, with more and more users discovering problems as they experience the latest adventures in the franchise. It's very likely that Nintendo is working on a new patch for the games, something that's become increasingly important in light of new Pokémon BDSP duplication glitches, which not only clone Pokémon, but also their held items. While Nintendo hasn't confirmed any fixes are in the works, it's possible Team Galactic won't be stealing Pokémon for much longer.
