Jose and Rachel have had one of the most explosive relationships on Married At First Sight season 13, and Jose's behavior was full of red flags for their marriage. There have been plenty of unpopular husbands on Married At First Sight, but Jose's actions during season 13 made him one of the least liked in the show's recent history. From trying to parent Rachel to locking her out of their home, these are all of the red flags in Jose's approach to relationships on Married At First Sight.
Before tying the knot, Jose and Rachel seemed like they could've been a well-matched pair on Married At First Sight. Rachel had experienced several bad experiences with unfaithful boyfriends in the past, so she was looking for a dependable husband to start over with. In turn, Jose seemed to be as reliable as husbands could be. Not only does Jose have an impressive job at NASA, but he also wanted to find a partner he could take care of. Jose even earned the nickname "Mr. Perfectionist" because he had such high standards for his spouse. The relationship experts on Married At First Sight might've thought Jose's perfectionism would result in a stable husband for Rachel, but that wasn't the case.
Jose first started to show signs that he wasn't a good pick for Rachel on their honeymoon. On the vacation, Jose treated Rachel like his daughter instead of his wife. One way that Jose's controlling personality reveals itself is through his parenting tendencies. While on the honeymoon, Jose had the urge to feed Rachel and even asked his wife if he could brush her teeth. This was an immediate red flag for Rachel, who asserted that she didn't want to be treated like a child. Rachel wanted Jose to know that she is self-sufficient and enjoys being independent, even when in a marriage. Jose exhibited more red flags when he shared that he wanted a wife that he could completely take care of with the money he makes from his well-paying job. This was a bad sign for Rachel because she doesn't want to rely on Jose's income.
Jose's desire to "parent" Rachel was only a preview of how controlling the NASA worker is. In a recent episode, Rachel accidentally called Jose another man's name. Rachel immediately apologized, but Jose swiftly descended into madness. It's likely that Rachel's slip-up reminded Jose that he isn't his wife's only option. Alas, because it's Jose's dream for his wife to be reliant on him, Rachel's mix-up made him feel insecure. Instead of talking about the accident, however, Jose started cursing and shouting at Rachel. Ultimately, Jose locked Rachel out of their home in his unbridled anger. Although Jose's mission on Married At First Sight is to take care of his wife, locking Rachel out in the middle of the night said otherwise. What's worse, Jose didn't feel bad the next day, an indication that he just isn't the right match for Rachel.
Jose has given Rachel a few warning signs that he isn't the right husband for her. From treating her like a child to not feeling remorse after his outburst, Jose appears to be an unpredictable spouse. Hopefully, Rachel will take notice of the red flags coming from her Married At First Sight partner.
