How To Win At Orlog (Dice Game) In Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is known for its beautiful landscapes, interesting characters, and intricate story. It follows the life of Eivor, a feisty Viking that travels from Norway to England for the glory of his or her clan. There are plenty of side quests and optional events throughout the game ranging from setting a woman's cats free to winning a drinking contest. The game also has an interesting mechanic that's new to the series: a dice game called Orlog.

If players need a break from fighting, expanding, and scouring the land for collectibles, they can pull up a chair and play Orlog. There are 19 Orlog players in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Two of them are in Norway, and the rest are scattered across England. The opponents vary in difficulty, and they each have unique God favor abilities. Players will be awarded a new God token after winning a game of Orlog against a new opponent.

Eivor can start a game of Orlog by going to one of the dice symbols on the map and interacting with the seated player. Each player starts with 15 health tokens. Six dice are rolled, then kept or rerolled up to two times each. The game involves using a combination of offense, defense, and God offerings. There are arrows (range) and axes (melee) that do 1 damage. Shields (range) and helmets (melee) block 1 damage, and hands will steal a favor token from the opponent. Favor tokens can also be obtained by rolling a dice that has a golden, dotted square around the edges. Tokens can be used for God offerings; each God favor has a different effect.

At first, Orlog can seem like a difficult game in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but there are a few strategies that work very well against Eivor's various opponents. The most important thing for players to keep in mind is that changing strategies once or more throughout the game will make winning much more difficult. Playing either fully offensive or defensive usually works very well, and there are God favor abilities that correspond with each strategy. For example, if a player chooses the aggressive strategy (keeping attack-based dice whenever possible) then they should use a combination of God favors that would compliment that. The same thing goes for a good defensive strategy. Up to 3 Gods with complementary skills can be chosen at the beginning of the match, but they can't be swapped once the game starts.

Another strategy is to focus only on obtaining tokens to use for God favors. That means keeping as many hands and golden outlined dice as possible. Having an abundance of tokens will allow the player to use God favors more frequently. There are several combinations of God favors that would be effective when playing offensively. Thor's Strike, which deals up to 8 additional damage, can be extremely useful. Skadi's Hunt and Brunhild's Fury both multiply attack dice. There are also God favors that heal, such as Odin's Sacrifice and Heimdall's Watch. God favors can be obtained by defeating new opponents in Orlog.

Winning Orlog is as simple as getting rid of all 15 of the opponent's health tokens. The best way to accomplish this is to start and stick with a specific strategy. Collecting more God favor abilities also increases the likelihood of beating tougher opponents. Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Orlog is a fun and challenging strategy game that gives Eivor a break from the burden of expanding the Raven Clan.
