Marvel's Project Runway Has Heroes Create Iron Man Armor

Warning! Spoilers for Giant-Size Little Marvels Infinity Comic #2

Some of the greatest heroes in the Marvel Universe have competed in their own version of Project Runway, only instead of fashionable outfits, they're making Iron Man armor. In Giant-Size Little Marvels Infinity Comic #2, Tony Stark hosts "Project Iron-Way," where the cutesy versions of Marvel characters compete to build the best Iron Man suit - and the results are hilarious and adorable.

This week, Marvel Comics revealed a massive update to their online comic streaming service, Marvel Unlimited. While the app got plenty of aesthetic updates and new features that made browsing comics on the platform much more streamlined, the revamp also came with a series of new comics designed explicitly with mobile formats in mind. One of those comics, Giant-Size Little Marvels Infinity Comic, brings Skottie Young's iconic baby Marvel heroes back to the forefront. The second issue features them competing in Iron Man's take on the reality show, Project Runway.

In Giant-Size Little Marvels Infinity Comic #2 by Young, Dax Gordine, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, and Nate Piekos, the adorable group of heroes and villains assemble for Tony Stark's "Project Iron-Way." So naturally, Stark judges the competition, which features Black Widow, Captain America, Ghost-Spider, Thor, and Bruce Banner competing to win. The issue plays out like an episode of Project Runway, as the heroes get interviewed by Stark (in the Tim Gunn role as well) while they're creating their armors. Unfortunately, when it comes to showing off their creations, Stark isn't very impressed.

Captain America is quickly dismissed for creation a patriotic suit too similar to one Stark already designed. Meanwhile, Ghost-Spider's hooded Iron Man armor doesn't impress him either. Next, Thor debuts his take on the suit, which is just a bunch of pieces angrily wedged together and held together with nails and tape. Black Widow debuts nothing as she doesn't think it's worth doing. Lastly, Bruce Banner debuts a suit that really impresses Tony, as he's declared the winner. However, when giving a speech after winning, Banner gets angry with a pesky fly, leading him to Hulk out and destroy his creation.

The comic is a fun, cute story that shows the different mindsets of each hero as they're put under pressure to create an Iron Man armor for Tony Stark. Like Project Runaway, the whole thing is set up like a reality show, with all the pressure of creating something amazing on the fly. But in the end, nobody really wins. Although Tony Stark laments he'll have to wear an Iron Man armor with a hood, as Ghost Spider's ensemble since it's the only suitable armor remaining. Giant-Size Little Marvels Infinity Comic #2 is available on Marvel Unlimited now.
