PlayStation Showcase: What To Expect & How To Watch | Screen Rant

Sony has finally announced its next highly-anticipated PlayStation Showcase for 2021. The PlayStation Showcase will be held on Thursday, September 9 at 1:00 pm PT. There have been major updates in the gaming sphere since the last Showcase almost a year ago. In November 2020, the PS5 was officially released and many fans are now looking forward to Sony’s plans for this generation.

PlayStation fans have long-awaited more information about the future of the PS5 and its many upcoming games. As expected, Sony did not participate in E3 2021, marking their third year in a row of skipping the exhibition. Since 2019, Sony has instead favored holding its own separate events. While some fans had speculated that there would be a PlayStation Showcase during the summer months, it seems Sony is finally ready to update fans about what its studios have been working on.

Sony has remained relatively quiet this year. Although there have been a few announcements about specific games, there are several confirmed games on the horizon that fans are excited to learn more about. Like PlayStation Showcases before, the event will have updates about first-party games set to release this holiday season and beyond. This is everything that fans can expect to see from 2021’s PlayStation Showcase.

Sony has confirmed that the 2021 PlayStation Showcase will be about 40 minutes in length. During this time, there will be presentations from PlayStation Studios and other developers. No specific games have been confirmed to make an appearance as of yet, but there are several anticipated PS5 games still releasing this year and early next year that are likely contenders. Following the main presentation, there will be additional updates from studio teams.

Sony notes that the focus of this PlayStation Showcase is on the PS5 and that there will not be any updates presented on the next generation of VR. Although this may be disappointing, some fans have speculated that there will be announcements about PS5 software or hardware updates. However, this hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

Fans who wish to tune in to the presentation have a couple of options on how to watch it. The PlayStation PS5 Showcase will be livestreamed on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. Although it is unknown what exactly Sony will present during the PlayStation Showcase, any updates for the PS5 and its upcoming titles are definitely welcome.
