Psychonauts 2 features plenty of fun puzzles to solve throughout the game, including puzzles in Hollis’ Hot Streak. Hollis’ Hot Streak is the third level in Psychonauts 2. Players return to Hollis Forsythe’s mind to repair the damage done previously in the game. While players make their way through Hollis’ Hot Streak, they will encounter three puzzles that must be solved.
Not unlike the first two games in the series, there are many puzzles in Psychonauts 2. Players must solve mind connection puzzles in Hollis’ Classroom, in the Pharmacy room, and in the Cardiology room. Each puzzle has different sets of thoughts that must be linked to succeed. Here’s how players can successfully solve the Hollis’ Hot Streak puzzles in Psychonauts 2.
The puzzle in Hollis’ Classroom is straightforward and serves more as a training session. Thankfully, Psychonaut 2 developers had ample time to add content that players would find useful and enjoyable. Players must use Raz’s mind connection powers to travel between the white nodes in the Classroom. Ultimately, players must connect the money thought bubble to the risk thought bubble. This results in Hollis Forsythe associating risk with money. Start by connecting to the risk bubble and travel between the white nodes in a clockwise motion, eventually ending the thought chain at money, located behind the stained glass.
The next Psychonauts 2 puzzle is in the Pharmacy room. Players must unrig the Pillinko machine to successfully finish the room. First players must play Pillinko, however, it is rigged and impossible to beat. Next, players must speak to the casino patrons to spawn thought bubbles. Talk to the Pillinko Nurse, the Old Patient, and the Young Patient. Once the thought bubbles appear, connect the 'wisdom' bubble to the 'decisions' bubble. Then connect 'Judgment' to 'quitting', and lastly, connect 'victory' and 'moderation'. Players will then be transported into a platforming section of Hollis’ mind. Travel through the white nodes, breaking the purple crystal barrier to connect the 'share' bubble to the 'feelings' bubble. Play the unrigged Pillinko machine again to beat the Pharmacy room.
Finally, the Cardiology Room contains a rigged racing game. Players must once again unrig the Psychonauts 2 game. Speak to the desk attendant and pick the speech option “I gotta follow my HEART.” Head into door on the other side of the room to meet the racing hearts. Pick the speech option “What if I raced for you?” Next, use the thought bubbles to travel into the T.V. mounted on the wall. Traverse through the platforming level, avoiding the electrified panels. Eventually, players can break down a purple crystal barrier to find the winning bubble. Connect the 'winning' bubble to the 'help' bubble. This unrigs the racing game, allowing Raz to bet on himself and win the race. Even though Psychonauts 2 has been receiving rave reviews, players can always use a little help when it comes to puzzles.
