Though Libby Castravet has been earning steady fan criticism for her 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? antics, viewers voiced that they won’t hold Libby accountable for offensive remarks her mother made. Libby’s mother, who does not appear in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, recently made homophobic comments about the rainbow being used as a symbol for pride. Though viewers have plenty of grievances to air with Libby, many thought she did the right thing by clarifying she disagreed with her mother.
Libby and her husband Andrei have been earning fan scorn for their own words and actions. The couple comes across as stuck-up and argumentative and Andrei’s vulgar language toward his wife and her family has offended many viewers. However, fans also dislike the chaotic Potthast family. Libby’s brother Charlie comes across as a comical villain, while her sisters Jenn and Becky are prone to drama. Additionally, all three of Libby’s siblings and her father Chuck have criminal pasts. Though viewers dislike Andrei, many find it hypocritical that the family members judge him for his past when they all have mugshots on the internet. Meanwhile, Libby’s mom has been receiving criticism for her recent social media post.
One viewer shared a video of Libby stating that she did not agree with her mother’s viewers to Reddit. “How do you say ‘don’t cancel me’ without saying ‘don’t cancel me’?” the user captioned the post. Though many commenters expressed that they didn’t like Libby, fans largely feel she did the right thing by clarifying she has different beliefs from her mother. Viewers expressed that it wasn’t fair to hold Libby accountable for something her relative said and that she did the right thing by speaking on a subject matter she believed in. “Nah, as shitty as she is, she’s not responsible for her family member’s ignorance. It would be far worse if she stood by and said nothing. She’s an asshole for a hundred reasons but this ain’t one of them,” one top comment reads.
“I'm no fan of Libby at all, but I agree. My mom humiliates me on the regular with her facebook posts. I would hate the thought of someone judging me based on whatever conspiracy theory she's sharing today,” another person wrote back. Many viewers expressed similar sentiments. “I don't know about y'all but I would hate to be judged for my family member's views. I can't hate on her for clearing things up,” one commenter wrote. Others expressed that Libby appeared genuine in her video and did the right thing for sharing her beliefs. However, some commenters believed that Libby was trying to save face since her family is allegedly angling for their own spin-off show.
Though nothing has been confirmed, many viewers believe the Potthast family wants to become the next The Family Chantel. Like Chantel and her family, the Potthast family recently threw fists in a family fight that saw Libby and her sister Becky swinging at each other on a rented yacht. However, many viewers believe the Potthast family is just a cheap imitation of Chantel and her family. 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? viewers will have to stay tuned to see if the Potthast family drama ends up scoring them a spin-off show or rendering the chaotic family canceled.
