Antony Starr, who plays Homelander on Amazon's The Boys, says season 3 will have fans freaking out. Homelander is the biggest heroic homicidal hypocrite in the series. Ratings for The Boys season 2 rivaled some of Netflix's most-watched shows, partly due to the series subverting many superhero tropes. The second season ended with many of the major players diverging on different paths and season 3 is currently filming.
Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) blackmailed Homelander with footage of the horrifying plane crash from season 1. Maeve's genuinely brave act saved Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) from Homelander's wrath. Starlight and Queen Maeve were welcomed back in the Seven, and Starlight's reputation was restored. Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) broke off from the Boys and joined Victoria Neuman's (Claudia Domit's) campaign, blissfully unaware of Neuman's own villainous actions. Season 3 will see every one of these characters return and introduce new characters like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Crimson Countess (Laurie Holden).
Starr conveyed his excitement for season 3 in a recent interview with TV Line. Without divulging any plot details, Starr described how season 3, "Is hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I’ve had the good fortune of being involved with!" Check out Starr's prediction for fan reactions to season 3 below.
"I’m always curious to see what the writers, what these crazy people, are going to cook up, and it’s a pretty great feeling in Season 3 to still be surprised and excited every time you turn a page in the material. All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out at Season 3."

Starr's excitement over season 3 is palpable, making the long wait for season 3 easier to bear. The cast and crew of The Boys has done a great job of dropping small tidbits from filming. From set photos teasing a Dawn of the Seven in-universe movie to actor Laz Alonzo (Mother's Milk) teasing that The Boys season 3 will three times bloodier than season 2.
Factor that in with multiple new cast members joining The Boys season 3, and it definitely adds up to the new season being exponentially crazier than the last two seasons combined. Kripke has also said that the The Boys season 3 footage is the craziest he's ever seen. While there hasn't been concrete details as to what the overall plot line will be for the The Boys season 3 as of yet, hopefully the show will successfully build on the momentum that the first two seasons set up so expertly, just like Starr said.
What's great about The Boys is that the series is not afraid to take risks, and the lines are continually blurred between who is truly good or bad. The Boys presents a realistic world that just happens to have superheroes who all have their own ends. With all of the hype and photos from filming so far, Starr's prediction that season 3 will have fans freaking out seems to be the understatement of the year.
