Dying Light 2 Schedules Next Showcase For July 1 | Screen Rant

Techland will reveal more details on Dying Light 2 Stay Human in an upcoming livestream. The game is being showcased in a series of events from the developer, which began with the Dying Light 2 release date reveal stream in May. The Dying Light games are first-person action titles, with the player trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested open-world.

Fans of the 2015 original have been waiting for its sequel for a while. The game was first announced during E3 2018, and in 2019 gamers were told the title would be launching in spring 2020. Dying Light 2 was then delayed indefinitely, leading some fans to wonder if the game would ever see the light of day. Following on from Techland's silence on the matter, it was then rumored that Dying Light 2 was having development problems, something which the company denied. Finally, in May 2021, the developer revealed new Dying Light 2 Stay Human gameplay, announcing a release date of December this year.

The event was the first of multiple, and now Techland has announced when Dying Light fans will get to see more of the sequel. Sharing the news on Twitter, Dying Light revealed a new livestream event in the "Dying 2 Know" series, which is set to take place July 1, 9pm CEST on the official Techland Twitch channel. While the company didn't disclose what topics the stream will cover, it's expected to feature new gameplay and developer interviews. In the first episode of Dying 2 Know, Game Designer Michał Dudziak explained Dying Light 2's branching storylines, while Techland also revealed the sequel will double the number of parkour moves from Dying Light.

Thanks to tidbits from Techland and the Dying 2 Know series, gamers are starting to see just what Dying Light 2 will offer. Dying Light 2's map will be four times the size of the first game, which means players hopefully won't run out of things to do. Open-world games can suffer if they're too large, especially if they lack quests or only offer filler side-missions. Dying Light 2's world has been created using an architecture engine named CityBuilder. The engine can quickly fill big spaces, stocking them with as many buildings as needed for the world setting. It's believed that, despite the size of the map, players won't be faced with loading screens when they travel. This is thanks to World Streaming technology and C-Engine's capabilities. It's worth noting the game has been developed for PS4 and Xbox One, and not new-gen consoles.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human will include multiplayer, supporting up to four players online. This was also a feature of the first game, and it's one making a very welcome return for the sequel. The multiplayer mode will allow gamers to see how their choices affected their story in comparison to their friends', and those hosting a match will be able to show off their unique worlds which are shaped based on their choices. It's hoped Dying Light fans will see an episode of Dying 2 Know dedicated to the multiplayer mode at some point before the series ends.
