Why More Dragon Quest 12 Footage At E3 Is Likely | Screen Rant

Although very little is known about the project right now, Dragon Quest 12 has officially been unveiled with the subtitle The Flames of Fate. Outside of a title and logo reveal, though, nothing about the upcoming entry in the long-running JRPG franchise has been shown off. However, with E3 2021 quickly approaching, it seems like an ideal time to show off additional footage of DQ12.

Although the game has previously been announced as in development, getting to see the logo for Dragon Quest 12 during the 35th Anniversary livestream was still plenty exciting for fans. Series creator Yuji Horii teased a darker, more mature game where choices matter - however, this has mostly been open to interpretation since deeper details weren't shared. Hopefully, this means even more will be revealed about the game during Square Enix's presentation at E3 this year.

Although it hasn't been confirmed yet, Dragon Quest 12 will surely be promoted by Square Enix at E3 this year. It's one of the company's biggest flagship series, and since DQ12 is getting a simultaneous global release, it makes sense for it to be featured this year - even if it's simply a repeat of the logo reveal from the 35th Anniversary livestream. However, from a logical and business standpoint, it makes sense to show more than just the logo at E3.

Typically, a hero reveal for a new Dragon Quest entry is one of the first things shown off. Akira Toriyama's designs of the Luminary from Dragon Quest XI were shown beforehand, as were the illustrations of Erik and Mia for Dragon Quest Treasures. So, it certainly seems possible the hero of Dragon Quest 12 will be the next big thing fans see. The biggest question is whether or not this will happen at E3 2021, or at some point in the future.

It makes a lot of sense for the hero of DQ12 to be revealed sooner rather than later. The logo was great for creating excitement about the title, but Dragon Quest 12 will need more than that to get fans excited at E3, especially since many of them have already watched the livestream or seen the logo teaser trailer. From this perspective, a hero reveal seems almost imminent. From a business standpoint, it's also a great way to keep hype going after the initial trailer unveiled the logo and subtitle.

For now, a hero reveal at E3 may sound like wishful thinking. However, it's a likely next step for Square Enix and Dragon Quest 12, so it's bound to happen eventually. E3 2021 just makes the most logical sense, especially less than a month from the logo trailer. At the very least, fans should expect to hear a bit more about the upcoming project, even if nothing new is actually shown.
