As part of the second year anniversary events, Pokémon Masters EX has rereleased past Legendary events, offering players another chance to obtain special sync pairs. The free-to-play mobile game was released on August 28, 2019, for Android and Apple devices, with gameplay focused on team battles with important characters from across every Pokémon main series game. While most of Pokémon Masters Ex's recent content has focused on the exciting features of Sword and Shield, the chance to look back at past events is a fun way to celebrate the second-year milestone.
Pokémon Masters EX takes a different approach to gameplay than other Pokmon games. Instead of battling to collect a team of six Pokémon while traveling across the game's region, players team up with familiar characters from previous games to battle with or against other characters from the franchise. These battle companions can include Pokémon's Rivals like Hop or Blue, as well as Pokémon Professors and Gym Leaders. It is even possible to team up with Pokémon Champions like Leon or Steven if players complete the needed events to obtain them.
According to the official Pokmon Master EX site, three Legendary Pokémon events will be returning during the anniversary event. "Father and Foe" will reintroduce Ghetsis and Kyurem, "Give and Take" will allow players to team up with Professor Sycamore and Xerneas, and "New World Dilemma" will reintroduce Cyrus and Palkia. This is an exciting opportunity not just because of the renewed ability to obtain the sync pairs, but for the chance to go through each event's storyline. A large reason to play Pokémon Masters EX is for the additional background stories players obtain about popular characters from the series, and due to limited event times, it is possible to miss storylines that include favorite characters.

The returning Legendary events won't be the only reason to participate in Pokémon Masters EX's second year anniversary. Players will also have the ability to obtain 10-Pair Ticket Scouts by logging in daily for up to 10 days. These special tickets allow players to scout 10 Sync Pairs, with a total of 100 Sync Pairs throughout the course of the anniversary event. There will also be the ability to earn up to 10,000 Gems, the premium currency for Pokémon Masters EX, through log-in bonuses throughout the event. These perks will allow both new and returning players to greatly add to their battle options.
Currently, it isn't known if Pokémon Masters EX plans to continue reintroducing past limited-time Legendary events after the anniversary event ends. However, it could be beneficial for those who weren't playing when the events were originally released. It could also be an opportunity for Pokémon Masters EX to introduce new variants of past events with special outfits for the sync pairs. This would give those who have already played through the event once an incentive to give the storyline another shot, as well as add to the ways that sync pairs can appear in battle.
