RHONY: Why Producers Might Ax Ramona Singer & Leah McSweeney

Fans are digesting the rumors that Bravo may be letting go of Ramona Singer and Leah McSweeney from The Real Housewives of New York after a rough season. But some think the change-up may not be such a terrible idea to breathe new life into the franchise.

Bravo viewers first got to meet Leah on the premiere episode of season 12 of RHONY. Leah was a fan favorite thanks to her energetic and opinionated personality, not to mention her stance on sex. The mother of one first butted heads with her older castmates after they shamed her for having a tramp stamp, but she made up with them towards the end. Leah is in charge of her clothing brand, Married to The Mob, and has even moved into sleepwear. Bravo fans are struggling to enjoy this new season amid abysmal ratings.

Add one more rumor to the list of possible outcomes for The Real Housewives of New York. There are multiple reasons why Bravo producers could want to let Ramona and Leah go. For starters, Ramona is the only original cast member still appearing on the show. Her Bravo paycheck alone would have grown from her time on season 1 to now, and the network could add more members in a younger demographic instead of paying the mother of one's salary. Ramona's unfiltered words are also starting to be a problem since her antics are not playing well. The country has had a rough year politically, and viewers do not think there is a place on TV for her, especially when she keeps putting her head in the sand to avoid racial topics.

As for Leah, she has been subpar this season. While she gets kudos for filming with literally her entire family, she has dropped the ball when it comes to drama. Her interaction with Heather Thompson was overhyped since the altercation led to nothing but the former housewife quitting again. While it is commendable that Leah is looking to convert to Judaism, the process is not adding too much to her own story. The tiki torch throwing Leah has been replaced by a second-rate, boring version of what she once was.

Bethenny Frankel has already made it clear that she will not be returning to The Real Housewives of New York and that fans should not be holding out hope. Another fan favorite, Dorinda Medley, is also not slated to return as it was announced she would be starring on Real Housewives All-Stars season 2. Bravo producers have a lot to figure out if they want the next season to be successful. The reunion has already been pushed back to October, so who knows what other news is around the corner.
