There are several of Katie Thurston’s men who fans would consider to be good candidates for the lead role of The Bachelor. With Season 17 of The Bachelorette nearing its end, the question arises: who will be the franchise's next Bachelor? A few of the men have shed light on the role and who would potentially be interested.
Katie Thurston, whose personal style has evolved over the years, has a few weeks left on her journey but that doesn’t stop everyone from wondering who the next star of The Bachelor franchise will be. Katie's season has been unique in a way where there are many fan favorites and many frontrunners. Last week, Bachelor Nation was stunned when Andrew Spencer was sent home by Katie. In this week’s latest episode, Michael Allio self-eliminated to go home to his son. Katie said herself in the episode she saw them making it until the very end.
Several contestants spoke to Us Weekly about what they think about the role of The Bachelor. Allio doesn’t see himself in the position despite what many fans think and want. “I just got my heartbroken, like, 20 minutes ago. I’m really not thinking about any of that,” Allio told Us Weekly. “They would have to change a lot, like, it’s not the same season with me. So one, it’s not been offered, two, [there] hasn’t been any of those conversations [and] three, I see a lot of risk and issues that are not of interest to me. I’m not easily flattered either. So the main thing is if I did this — do I think it would be possible to pursue love to find that again? I don’t know.” Being that Allio self-eliminated due to being apart from his 4-year-old son James, it seems very unlikely he would do the same extended time period again clearly unless there were big changes to the structure of the show that is more accommodating to those with children. Many fans will be disappointed, but one of the reasons he was such a fan favorite was his close relationship with his son and the way he puts him over everything else.
Another person fans want for The Bachelor position is Andrew Spencer. Spencer from the start had a very outgoing and charming personality that made it clear he would go far. He and Katie had an undeniable connection and really good chemistry throughout the season. He too says he wouldn’t be too quick to take the role, telling Us Weekly, “I think people don’t understand how hard it is to be in that position — to remember stories, to remember names, like, she got someone’s name wrong earlier today, which was hilarious,” He went on to say how he thinks he would need to be in the right mindset to do it, and though he's unsure about it, he is still 100% open to finding love. Connor Brennan too said he would probably turn down the opportunity, saying he doesn’t think he could handle dating more than one person. Katie sees Allio or Spencer as the best candidates. The Bachelorette star says, “I think they just both have a lot to offer, and I think they are in a place where they are ready to really settle down and they've really grown a lot as men."
With two episodes left, there are still men to be cut. Blake Moynes, Greg Grippo, and Justin Glaze remain and obviously, two of these men could be candidates as well. It seems that some of the current men up for the job aren’t sure if they’re ready to take on such a large responsibility. The franchise always has a way of finding someone who is the perfect fit. Katie Thurston, who has been outspoken but not without controversy, was sent home relatively early and ended up being a very anticipated Bachelorette.
The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8pm EST on ABC.
