Ariana Grande made her first appearance as a judge on The Voice during the newest teaser for this season, in which she serenaded the other judges around a campfire. This year has been full of happiness for Ariana with a lot of milestones completed. In May 2021, she announced that she and her real estate boyfriend, Dalton Gomez, decided to tie the knot. The two have been together since around February 2020 and got engaged in December of the same year. The wedding took place in Ariana's Montecito home, and was a really small and intimate affair. They chose to keep things small, because Ariana wanted to be able to enjoy the day with her family, and those who she loves the most. Her home was decorated with a white color scheme, featuring hundreds of white flowers.
Aside from finding love, Ariana found herself as the newest coach on The Voice. It was announced in March that Ariana will replace Nick Jonas as a coach for the singing competition's 21st season. She will join veteran coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend on the hit show. After the announcement, Kelly shared her excitement for having another woman on the judges panel, while Blake and John welcomed Ariana to the show. Filming of the first round of blind auditions began on June 21, and Ariana seemed to fit right in on her first day at her new job. She was interacting with fans throughout filming, and was super sweet to everyone involved in filming.
Fans got a first look at Ariana Grande as a judge on the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming 21st season of the show. As reported by The New York Post, the teaser features judges Kelly, Blake and John sitting around a campfire in the woods, when all of a sudden Blake, who is taking part in a country music festival, points at something in the sky. The camera then quickly pans to Ariana Grande coming in on a crescent moon, before joining the other judges around the fire. When she's told about the tradition that new judges must sing a song for the veteran judges while around the campfire, Ariana starts singing her own rendition of Hopelessly Devoted to You from the movie Grease. Pretty soon, the other judges, and surrounding woodland creatures, join in and provide harmonies for her performance.
Ariana Grande is clearly excited to start her journey as a judge, posting on both Instagram and Twitter about the promo. On Twitter, she posted the video and explained how happy she is to be a part of The Voice family. She got a little deeper on Instagram, expressing her love for the job, and everyone involved with the show. She says she is already upset about the end of the show, even though it is months in the future. She ends by saying how excited she is to get started on the live shows. Fans seem to be taking well to her addition as a coach, with one commenting she completely made this song her own, and it now belongs to her. Another called her voice angelic, while someone else claimed her voice is definition of the voice the show is looking for.
Season 21 of The Voice, is set to start airing on September 20 with the pre-taped blind auditions. Ariana Grande is a very talented singer, as evidenced by the promo video above. It will be interesting to see if her talent translates into her being a good coach. There have been many talented coaches on that show, but none have been able to take the title of most wins, away from Blake Shelton. Will Ariana be the one to take the glory away from the veteran coaches, or will she need another season to find her footing? Only time will be able to tell.
