Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the set of the popular AMC series. Odenkirk, 58, started his Hollywood career in the late '80s as a writer for comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live and The Ben Stiller Show. He gained public recognition as an actor for playing the crooked and powerful lawyer Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, which he reprised for its spinoff series, Better Call Saul. The role earned Odenkirk several nominations as best lead actor for a series since the show premiered in 2015.
As the prequel to the widely successful crime drama, Better Call Saul focuses on how Odenkirk's character went from being an ex-con artist named Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman, a sharp but greedy criminal defense attorney. Better Call Saul also stars Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, and Giancarlo Esposito. The show is currently filming its sixth and last season, which is slated to be released next year.
On Tuesday, Odenkirk was filming for Better Call Saul's final season in Albuquerque, New Mexico when he suddenly collapsed, TMZ first reported. According to sources, production staff quickly called an ambulance that transported the actor to a nearby hospital. It is unclear what caused the incident or if Odenkirk had underlying medical issues. Sources also did not disclose whether the actor was conscious when the emergency team responded. Currently, he is reportedly still in the hospital receiving medical care.

After the unfortunate incident, many of Odenkirk's fans and colleagues expressed their concern for the acclaimed actor. Actor Elijah Wood and Better Call Saul star Michael McKean took to Twitter to send their support. David Cross, who starred alongside Odenkirk in the short-lived HBO series Mr. Show with Bob and David, also tweeted a get-well-soon message. In his tweet, the comedian was positive that Odenkirk will soon recover and called him "one of the strongest people" he knew.
Odenkirk's hospitalization will definitely cause a blow to the already-delayed production of Better Call Saul. It's been more than a year since the hit AMC series has wrapped up season 5. Better Call Saul season 6, which serves as its final curtain, has suffered multiple delays due to the pandemic. The highly awaited season was initially supposed to air this year but was pushed back to a 2022 premiere, much to viewers' disappointment. Hopefully, Odenkirk will be able to overcome this setback and audiences will see his condition improve soon.
