90 Day Fiancé season 1 couple Paola and Russ Mayfield’s 2-year-old son Axel is adored by TLC viewers on Instagram. Paola and Russ became parents to Axel on New Year’s Day in 2019, after having announced their baby news in July by joking, “the cravings have started for the both of us.” A sex reveal party had followed soon when it was revealed that Paola and Russ were welcoming a baby boy. During the process of pregnancy, Paola got mom-shamed for choosing to display her body on social media. But Colombian 90 Day Fiancé star Paola fought back the criticism, after having dealt with a miscarriage before having Axel due to her type O-negative blood.
The heartbreaking news that had been revealed on 90 Day Fiancé had created differences between Paola and her engineer husband Russ who she accused of not being emotionally present. Currently, Paola has again hinted at there being marriage problems between her and Russ after a recent tweet suggesting a possible divorce.
Paola who now wrestles under the name “Paola Blaze,” had posted, “Sometimes is better to recognize when it's time to move on and accept that it wasn't meant to be for the long run.” Fans had many theories of Paola and Russ’ perfect relationship coming to an end, when on Wednesday, Paola again posted about her not taking photos with her 90 Day Fiancé star husband as she doesn’t like to “pretend.”
However, while Paola Mayfield may be going through a rough patch with Russ, the 90 Day Fiancé couple are always the doting parents to Axel. One of Paola’s earliest photos with Axel is from January 13, 2019, a mere 13 days after his birth. “I didn’t know the meaning of true love until I met you,” Paola said in the caption while pouring her heart out about being a new mother and starting a new chapter in her life. “I won’t be posting a lot of pictures of my baby as I don’t want to drive you all crazy with so much cuteness 😜” PT and nutrition coach Paola had joked with her fans.
But fans didn’t mind more pictures of baby Axel coming in for them to coo over. In May 2019, Paola celebrated her first Mother’s Day with Axel and exclaimed how proud she was to be his mom. The 90 Day Fiancé cast member wore a t-shirt to match Axel’s onesie which said, “I never dreamed I’d grow up to be a super cool mom, but here I am killing it with Axel since 2019."
In a September 2019 post, Paola posed with her “cute lil family” and called baby Axel, “#miniruss.” As per Us Weekly, Paola was in labor for 13 hours before delivering her baby boy with the help of a midwife via home birth. After doing her research, Paola chose to do a water birth to avoid the cold atmosphere of a hospital and to have “more control” over her son, and so that she wouldn’t be separated from her son for any minute.
Axel’s unique name was chosen by his 90 Day Fiancé star father Russ. The TLC duo had decided to not even tell their closest family and friends about Axel’s name ahead of his birth. The baby was born just 22 minutes after the clock struck 12 on New Year’s Day 2019. Paola and Russ had declared that Axel takes his looks after his dad and his mom takes credit for his attitude, which is quite evident via his adorable antics on Instagram.
