BioWare has recently revealed player data from Mass Effect Legendary Edition, examining which choices are made most commonly among the series' players. By examining statistics released after Mass Effect 3, one can examine how much things have changed over the years - and which decisions have largely remained the same.
The Mass Effect Legendary Edition statistics covered choices made across all three games, seeing as Legendary Edition combined the entire trilogy under one release. For example, nearly every player saved Wrex and the rachni queen in Mass Effect 1, and Mordin is the most likely character to die during Mass Effect 2's suicide mission. 94% of players pardoned Tali during her ME2 loyalty mission, and 60% opted to save Ashley on the planet Virmire in ME1.
Other data points were more general. 68% of players opted to play as a male Shepard in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a number that was significantly decreased from what BioWare saw following the release of Mass Effect 3. In ME3, 82% played as male Shepard, similar to the 80% that chose him in Mass Effect 2. Another decision that remained largely the same across the series is which class players opted to select. Soldier was the most popular class in ME2, ME3, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and Engineer was likely only played by around 5% of players in all three games.

Priority: Rannoch is one of the more divisive decisions in Mass Effect 3, at least according to BioWare's statistics as posted on DigitalSpy. Just 36% of ME3 players managed to broker peace between the geth and quarians. In Mass Effect Legendary Edition, however, 80% achieved peace. Among those players who did not successfully negotiate, the geth was the more popular option in both games. The decision to cure the genophage was more straightforward, with 96% and 92% of players opting to cure it in both ME3 and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Paragon was also the more popular moral alignment in both regards.
Squadmate rankings were also similar between both games. Kaidan is the least popular squadmate in both Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect Legendary Edition, though the latter's data only examined him compared to the rest of the ME1 crewmates in particular. He also has the lowest survival rate in ME3, though this could have something to do with the fact that more players tend to save Ashley on Virmire instead. On the other hand, Liara and Garrus are among the top three most popular squadmates in both games, perhaps speaking to the longevity of their characters and their impact on the Mass Effect franchise as a whole.
