Million Dollar Listing: Biggest Scandals From NY & LA Shows

Million Dollar Listing has been a fan-favorite real estate reality TV series for a long time, but certain cast members have dealt with their fair share of controversies over the years. The show started out on the west coast in Los Angeles, and then expanded to the east coast with the Million Dollar Listing New York spin-off. People like Ryan Serhant, Josh Altman, and Frederick Eklund became well-renowned names through the years with their unique ways of making a sale.

The realtors and brokers on Million Dollar Listing make selling a few multimillion-dollar properties seem like a walk in the park. However, their success did not happen overnight, and it has led certain fans to speculate on whether they were involved in certain shady deals as they climbed their way to the top. The world of real estate is a very small world, and it doesn’t take much for a scandal to occur. Therefore, read on to see the show’s biggest scandals over the past 15 years.

In 2019, Ryan Serhant was accused of illegal business practices resulting in a million-dollar lawsuit. A former client of Serhant’s, Aaron Coppelson, is accusing the real estate broker of forcing him into buying a property without knowing that he was allegedly a “dual agent” who represented both sides of that real estate transaction. In a report from Yahoo!, the legal documents noted that Coppelson was reportedly suing for “Fraud, Mistake, Breach of Contract, Uniform Commercial Code, and Unjust Enrichment.”

Currently, MDLNY alum Luis D. Ortiz is undergoing accusations of alleged domestic abuse. His former girlfriend and mother of his child, Nikita Singh, started a GoFundMe in the hopes of raising $135,000 in legal fees to keep Ortiz away from their daughter, Leela. She states that she endured abuse from the former broker and moved across the Atlantic to keep away from him as she doesn’t feel safe in the UK where they had lived with him. Ortiz has been vocal about having anger issues on camera, but no further details have been released. Alas, Ortiz recently appeared on Good Day New York to set the record straight and say that these allegations are not true.

Josh Flagg from Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles may not have been a part of a scandal himself, but he did help someone who is involved in some major controversy. In 2020, Flagg helped actress Lori Loughlin sell her Bel-Air mansion. Lori recently served jail time for her part in the college scandal, where she and her husband reportedly paid half a million dollars to get their daughters into the University of Southern California as college athletes, despite the fact that the girls never partook in sports. The home featured six bedrooms and nine bathrooms with plenty of other lavish amenities. It was sold for $18.75 million to Justin Mateen, the creator of the dating app Tinder.
