Animal Crossing 2.0: All New Holiday Items In 2021 | Screen Rant

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is entering the final weeks of 2021, which means that the festive holiday season and Toy Day holiday are fast approaching, and holiday items and DIY recipes will soon become available. However, with the addition of 9,000 new items to Animal Crossing in the 2.0 update, there will be several new holiday items in December of 2021 that weren't available during last year's holiday season. In addition, this update served as the game's last major expansion, and players will now find a more comprehensive selection of items to decorate their islands with this year.

In addition to the Festive and Illuminated items and DIY projects from December 2020, the 2.0 update introduces several Ornament items that can be crafted from festive ornaments that players can collect after December 15. This applies to both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres of the game, so players worldwide can get ready for Toy Day as the end of the year draws near. Toy Day takes place on December 24, giving players almost two weeks to decorate their islands before the holiday arrives.

Ornaments are the main material players need to complete Animal Crossing's holiday DIY projects. They can be found by shaking decorated cedar trees around the island and come in three colors: red, blue, and gold. Of course, players will need plenty of ornaments to craft the new Ornament items as well as the holiday items from last year. Still, these items can also be bought from Nook's Cranny and obtained from villagers during the holiday season.

There are a total of 5 new holiday items added to Animal Crossing in 2021, along with 5 new corresponding DIY recipes that players can learn. Like all DIY recipes in the game, these holiday recipes can be obtained from floating balloons, message bottles on the beach, and villagers working on DIY projects in their homes. The new holiday items and DIY recipes include 4 new furniture items and 1 wearable fashion item:

  • Ornament Table Lamp: 2 red ornaments, 2 iron nuggets
  • Giant Ornament: 10 red ornaments
  • Ornament Garland: 2 red ornaments, 2 blue ornaments, 2 gold ornaments, 5 iron nuggets
  • Ornament Tree: 3 red ornaments, 2 blue ornaments, 1 gold ornament, 3 iron nuggets
  • Ornament Crown: 3 red ornaments, 3 blue ornaments, 3 gold ornaments

Players will be able to find ornaments and holiday DIY recipes on their Animal Crossing islands from December 15 to January 6. To get more decorations from a tree, players can shake the tree until it doesn't drop anything after five shakes in a row to get the maximum amount of materials from it, though branches will sometimes fall instead. The Ornament Table Lamp, Giant Ornament, Ornament Garland, and Ornament Tree can all be customized, and each have green, blue, pink, and purple variations in addition to their default red color. Along with the new bugs and fish available in December, Animal Crossing players will have plenty to look forward to as the year's end approaches.
