Call of Duty Vanguard Prestige Guide: Everything You Need To Know

Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Prestige makes a return in Call of Duty: Vanguard and this is everything players need to know about it. With every new year, a brand new Call of Duty title releases, pushing players to start their grind from the very beginning in an entirely new game. A big part of the Call of Duty experience is taking on other players in multiplayer matches. Whether it be playing alone or with friends, working towards Prestige is the main method of progression in the game. Prestige in Call of Duty Vanguard is similar to how to prestige in Black Ops Cold War.

Since the first official season of Call of Duty Vanguard doesn't drop until December, players are currently participating in the preseason. During this time, players are able to compete in matches, complete challenges, and use tokens to earn more XP towards their rank. Players will make their way up to Rank 55 where the number will immediately restart and begin on Prestige Rank 1 upon the next level. From here on out, players will begin to learn season levels when compared to normal player levels.

Players are also able to keep their attachments and weapons without having to give them up like older titles. This is also how prestige works in Black Ops Cold War. Since this is the preseason, players will not be able to unlock extra weapon blueprints or guns from Prestiging. Players can also unlock neat bonuses for Prestiging.

There are three different tiers of rewards players can unlock for Prestiging in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

  • Prestige Reward 1: This is unlocked during Season level 1 when the player reaches Rank 55 for the first time. Players will unlock a Prestige Emblem and a Battle Pass tier skip.
  • Prestige Reward 2: This is unlocked during Season level 50. Players will unlock another Prestige Emblem, a Battle Pass tier skip, and a Weapon Blueprint.
  • Prestige Reward 3: This is unlocked during Season level 100. Players will unlock another Prestige Emblem and another Battle Pass tier skip.

Players can even go beyond this and aim to reach Season Level 1000 as the ultimate challenge, but this is incredibly difficult and time-consuming. Once the first season begins in December, players will have more content to unlock. Overall, Prestige is just a measurement of how much time and effort players put into the game. The best way to raise up the rank is by clearing out Call of Duty: Vanguard games with friends. The process feels much faster with people to play with. The Battle Pass can also reward players with tokens that allow them to earn additional bonus XP for a short period. Players should aim to get at least one Prestige Emblem per season.
