The official trailer for Hotel Transylvania: Transformia has been released, revealing that things are about to get weird for Dracula's family. Directed by Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon, the fourth and last installment of the franchise will follow the relationship between Dracula (Brian Hull) and his human son-in-law Johnny (Andy Samberg). Despite Adam Sandler playing the role of Dracula in previous installments, Sandler will not be returning to reprise his role for the upcoming film.
Now, Amazon has shared an official trailer for their newly-acquired Hotel Transylvania: Transformia. In the trailer, Johnny seeks Dracula’s validation and successfully transforms into a monster with the help of Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan). In a shocking turn of events, Dracula and his monster friends are transformed into mortal humans, as Dracula is shown dreading his new “total dad bod.” Dracula and Johnny are then seen embarking on their journey deep in the Amazon to reverse their transformation. The long-awaited Hotel Transylvania: Transformia was initially delayed by Sony Pictures Animation from its summer release due to the growing concern of the pandemic, as kids under 12 were unable to receive the vaccine to enter theaters. Despite other production companies adapting their own streaming platform, like Disney+, Sony doesn't have its own service, and sold its planned theatrical releases to other streamers. Hotel Transylvania: Transformia was sold to Amazon, with the primary intent of releasing the film in October, but was later delayed again until January due to behind-the-scenes complications. In addition to Hotel Transylvania: Transformia, Amazon previously purchased Cinderella, starring Camillo Cabello.
Finally, fans will be able to tune in and watch Hotel Transylvania: Transformia on Amazon Prime Video when it releases on the streaming platform next month. Going by the trailer, Van Helsing’s new invention is sure to cause a chaotic and entertaining sequel that builds on the loveable characters fans know and love. Despite Sandler's exit from the franchise, Hull is shaping up to be a perfect replacement in the Hotel Transylvania saga, and this next installment is sure to please.
