Counting On: Duggars React to the Show Being Canceled After 11 Seasons

The Duggars from Counting On are reacting to the show being canceled after 11 seasons. Viewers demanded that the show be canceled after Josh was arrested in April. Although the courts decided to release Josh after he pleaded not guilty in a child pornography case, viewers did not think that TLC should release any other episodes of the 19 Kids and Counting spinoff. Josh was not the only Duggar with who viewers were disgruntled. Accusations surrounding the eldest Duggar, who had been absent from the show since 2015, also played a part in the show’s cancelation. Now, other members of the Duggar family are speaking out about the show being canceled after 11 seasons.

Viewers came together to sign a petition to cancel Counting On. The petition was posted on Change.org with the statement, “This family should no longer be allowed to collect money from streaming services and television series. Enough is enough. Too many people have been harmed.” Viewers are still able to sign the petition. With nearly 30,000 signatures, the petition may be on its way to becoming one of the most signed on the website. One viewer stated in the petition that it would not be enough to remove Jim Bob, Michelle, and Anna because income from the show goes directly to Michelle and Jim Bob. The petition reads, “As far as income, the money made by the show goes directly to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, not to their children. There are many other platforms the older siblings can use to share their stories and life to make a living.

The rest of the Duggar family reacted to the show being canceled after 11 seasons. Page Six shared the reaction of Jinger and her husband Jeremy. The couple supported the cancelation of the show on Instagram, “We wholeheartedly agree with TLC’s decision not to renew ‘Counting On’ and are excited for the next chapter in our lives.” Amy chimed in with a reaction to the cancelation after 11 seasons. Amy posted a slideshow of images on Instagram and wrote a message to TLC, @TLC- thank you for the ride ... I’ll treasure the memories, always. Also, I stand with the network in this decision!”

Viewers were in clear support of Jinger and Jeremy’s reactions. Comments were turned off for Jinger’s post but it received nearly 70,000 likes. Amy’s slideshow of pictures received nearly 23,000 likes and a variety of reactions. One viewer wrote in support of Amy, “You were respectful towards your Aunt and Uncle. You showed love towards your cousins and still do with Jill.” Other viewers questioned Amy’s motives for sharing the post, “I like you a lot and love your store, but you need to stop! You are the one looking for gossip and snark to generate income.” The viewer continued, “You know people LOVE to talk, you want to make it all about you! Please seek help!

The actions of the Duggar family members sparked a range of reactions from viewers. Some viewers even called out TLC. One commented under Amy’s post, “I'm sad but expected it. TLC has to cover themselves.” Duggar relatives also reacted to the show being canceled after 11 seasons. Jinger, Jeremy, and Amy from Counting On stand in agreement with the network’s decision.
