Animal Crossing: How To Catch A Sea Butterfly | Screen Rant

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can find and catch Sea Butterflies during certain times of the year depending on the location of their island. There are a few things players can do to speed up the process of finding a Sea Butterfly, including looking for the right-sized shadow, using bait, and fishing in the right area body of water. Sea Butterflies are valuable fish that can be sold for a decent amount of Bells.

Fishing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been included since the launch of the game, but many of the fish are specific to certain months out of the year and time of day. Unless time traveling, players will need to wait for the right date and time to be able to find many fish, especially the rare and valuable ones. Those looking to make a profit from fishing should look for the higher-priced fish, like the Sea Butterfly, which sells for 1,000 Bells.

In order to catch a Sea Butterfly, players need to make sure they're fishing during the right time of year. For the Northern Hemisphere, Sea Butterflies can be caught between December and March, and they appear in the Southern Hemisphere from June to September. If players are outside of the right timeframe, then they have the option to time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons at their discretion. Luckily, the Sea Butterfly appears all day, so players won't have to worry about what time they're fishing.

The Sea Butterfly produces a tiny shadow and can be found any time of day in the ocean. Players won't be able to find them in ponds or rivers, so sticking to the shore and fishing around the perimeter of the island will work for catching Sea Butterflies. To speed up finding a Sea Butterfly, players can either run past medium and large shadows to make them disappear and spawn a new fish or use bait to quickly draw out different fish.

Bait can be crafted with one manila clam or bought from Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Nook's Cranny for 200 Bells. While fishing, players can throw the bait into the water to immediately draw out a new fish wherever they're standing. If players dig up manila clams and turn them into bait, they can quickly find and fish for Sea Butterflies.

Players will need to look out for the tiny shadow that represents the Sea Butterfly in order to catch it. For players in the Northern Hemisphere, the Sea Butterfly will spawn between December and March, and it's available from June to September in the Southern Hemisphere. A Sea Butterfly can be sold for 1,000 Bells, so players may want to catch a large number of them to make a lot of Bells fast.
