A new promotional clip for Young Sheldon season 5, episode 8 reveals Sheldon (Iain Armitage) throwing a tantrum at school. Following a brief hiatus due to Thanksgiving, The Big Bang Theory spin-off is returning with a brand new episode this week. Young Sheldon season 5 has been going strong so far, proving a massive hit with Big Bang Theory fans and newcomers alike across its first seven episodes.
Despite a complicated deliberation with his parents, Sheldon was finally allowed to go to college after he was cleared to graduate high school early. But instead of going to Harvard, Princeton, or any other Ivy League institution in the country (which were all willing to give him a scholarship), he was forced to make a compromise with his mother, Mary (George Cooper). He agreed to go to East Texas Tech so he can still live with the family in Medford instead of moving out of state. Things have been generally decent for Sheldon in his new school, although he has encountered a couple of issues. That includes Dr. Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) having to abruptly move away and Sheldon struggling in his engineering class. However, it doesn't seem like the young character will be getting a breather any time soon.
TV Promos recently shared a string of sneak peeks for Young Sheldon season 5, episode 8, titled "The Grand Chancellor and a Den of Sin." One of the snippets that have been released shows Sheldon throwing a tantrum at the principal's office after he found out that she lied to him about something. The video sees Sheldon trying to keep his temper in check while also trying to make a point in this very adult conversation. Watch the full video below:

While the clip itself doesn't give any indication about what Sheldon and his school's head are actually fighting about, it's clear that the character isn't happy because she lied to him. Piecing that together with the last snippet in the video, and it's possible that the argument may have stemmed from the chancellor bluffing about having a boss that she needs to answer to when in reality, she doesn't have to cater to anyone. This checks out with Young Sheldon season 5, episode 8's synopsis, which reveals that Sheldon will defy the East Texas Tech boss's orders about science project requirements. Elsewhere, Mary finally finds out about Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Georgie's (Montana Jordan) illegal gambling business.
CBS has noticeably focused on other members of the Cooper family in previous episodes of Young Sheldon season 5. But between this upcoming outing and the last episode, which saw Sheldon finally admit to Howard (Simon Helberg) why he hates engineering, it seems like the sitcom is shifting back its attention to its main character. That being said, it would be great if Young Sheldon is able to continue its balanced storytelling by tackling side arcs as well, since these have been interesting to watch. One particular plotline that has barely moved recently is the budding relationship between George (Lance Barber) and Brenda (Melissa Peterman), so hopefully upcoming Young Sheldon season 5 episodes will give fans an update in this regard, too.
